surprise, today i got a postcard from FRED, german sales manager red wing shoes.
the last days he visited the red wing shoe factory in red wing, minnesota, with some
of his german clients. a trip with tradition, because he does it every year. i hope that
someday i could join it, too. fred knows that i love the stars of the silverscreen cowboys –
the stamps are so nice. thank you so much – nice surprise. check some great photos

back from disneyland paris, i found this nice historical commercial in honor of the world cup match between
england and the us boys. the 60 second spot is labeled “FREEDOM“ and features the 2010 CHALLENGER
SRT8, waving the red, white and blue“ going up against the redcoats. it is a pitty that the us boys just played 1:1.
i saw the match in a hotel bar at eurodisney and there were a lot of english men. believe me they were so
disapointed over the draw. i was very happy but so quiet because they look so angry and screamed a lot of
rubbish that i got afraid.
just discoverd on the VIBERG BOOT blog. unfortunately they left no descriptions for the boots,
and they look so great. i love the “new pull on”, old school and pure.

i am not a boarder indeed. i tried it several times in the late 70s and the results
were always very painful. but finding the ARNIKO boards, … hm, one more try?
the boards look so beautiful. every board is unique, and all they are handmade
by carver in nepal. the boards are made for cruising and therefore they have the
classical form of slalomboards, developed from the surfer scene in the 70s.
unbelievable: always the same red wing engineer 2268 and four times
another boot – made by hukurokuju. it’s a shame, here in germany
it is so difficult, no nearly impossible, to get a boot customized. weeks
ago i wanted new soles for a white’s smokejumper: a white vibram
2021 sand sole. no chance. they told me it will not work. so far …

a great paneristi. this edition is titled THE REFERENCES. the phantastic book
documents 34 historic watches from the OFFICINE PANERAI. volker wiegmann
and ralf ehlers are the authors and both are passionate collectors of these
fascinating diver’s watches with a big history. myself i wear a luminor marina
for a long time. years ago volker was the second person i ever saw wearing
a panerai and i was infected by the pure and massiv look of the watch …
