BOOT OF THE DAY | #125 | LIFE TIME GEAR’S EXOTIC LUCCHESE CAIMAN COWBOY BOOT

beside my passion to workboots i am a great fan of COWBOY & WESTERN BOOTS. there are 2 favorite brands: LUCCHESE and RIOS OF MERCEDES. there is just one other option for me: CUSTOM MADE western boots; i own 3 pairs of those, all handmade in TEXAS. the one below is a LUCCHESE HORNED BACK CAIMAN BOOT style #G9252. some facts: from the LUCCHESE CLASSICS line, mens cigar (brown) caiman tail with brown buffalo calf top, 3 colored leaf stitch pattern, handmade, full leather heel counter, cushioned insole for comfort, 1 3/4″ heel, 12 1/2″ shaft, 15″ circumference plus double leather sole and walking heels. after a bike accident in 2007 when i crashed my left femoral bone i did not often wear cowboy boots. but i think it’s time to do it again. what a wonderful boot. this one has to put out on the streets not to the cupboard. pics | LTG

PANERAI ANCHOR WATCH STRAPS by GRÉGOIRE

OLIVER WENKEL thank you so much for this link: www.gregoiretexier.com . AWESOME STUFF. with the age of 18 years GRÉGOIRE TEXIER left VERSAILLES near paris, france, straight to the states. after traveling around, he enlisted to the US navy. since he was a boy he is interested in collecting watches. in his spare time during the military service he honed his skills as a designer and craftsman – to absolut perfection. he describes his brand as follows: “Bold. Unconventional. Without boundaries. Grégoire is more than a brand, it is an ethic,  a character, a declaration. I assert the dignity of the individual standing in opposition to a world of increasingly mass produced products for interchangeable people. … Grégoire. Carrying on tradition by carrying it forward.” please check his site for more information about GRÉGOIRE and his stuff. the pics shown in the post are just a small choice from his offer. great statement: “… However, you should know that I also hand select our customers. That is why you will never see Grégoire products sold in a “click to purchase” fashion. You will note that I have no online store. I don’t want mere consumers.” pics | GRÉGOIRE

LIFE TIME GEAR | FAVORITES #53 | NIGEL CABOURN, CARHARTT, RED WING SHOES … ALL CAMOUFLAGE

i love camouflage, by sure i am not a military fan. i did my military services 20 years ago, this was okay but enough. i just like the pattern. and the worst thing you can do is wearing all this stuff together … an absolute NO-GO! just wearing one camo piece combined with non-camo is allowed. the difference from pattern to pattern is really interesting. mostly i like the classic US ARMY camouflage design from f.ex. the CARHARTT Heritage Settler Jacket, the NEW ERA STAPLE CAP and the bow tie. beside the NIGEL CABOURN designs are although very nice and special. the beeswax ARMY & CAMO CAMERAMAN JACKET is really cool and not so loud. the RED WING # 8150 and NC NAVAL PARKA SAND CAMO i like so much because of their alone standing design. especially the RWS 8150 is something special because of its strictly limited status. and at least my old brand new VOLKSWAGEN. not really camo but tan! i don’t know why all the people starring at my car? … pics | LTG, end., ushowu

LIFE TIME GEAR | FAVORITES #52 | ANCHOR RING

just an easy piece today, but i love it so much. i wear this ring every day combined with a magic skull ring from WERKSTATT MUENCHEN or an US NAVY CUSTOM RING. and this ANCHOR RING was not expensive. i bought it some times ago at bodenseeschmiede. just 85 euros i had to pay for this awesome BUNDESWEHR MARINE anchor ring: 935 silver, 24gr weight, ringhead about 17mm. really heavy and solid work. you see, good things must not be expensive! but: till now the price raised up to 95 euros … pics | LTG

BOOT OF THE DAY | #123 | LIFE TIME GEAR’S RED WING ENGINEER # 8268

welcome to LTG’s boot collection: RWS # 8268 ENGINEER BOOTS. just 2 weeks gently in use – straight from the box to the feet, after getting poor at germans customs for this postage from JAPAN. just wearing a few hours a day: the boot hurts so much. it is the 3rd time i try to break in a RWS engineer. 2 black #2268s left the building before. but the 8268 is something special to me. at first the boot was really expensive till entering my cupboard with all the shipping costs and customs, second the boot is japan exclusive and third this engineer looks best! i like the rough silhouette combined with the smooth looking sand colored suede leather – great! the engineer features a steel toe, neoprene cord sole and robust buckles compared to some new RWS engineer styles. it is no problem to order something from japan f.ex. from THREEWOOD. they handle and shipp quick and absolute confident. pics | LTG

LOST AMERICA | NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY OF THE ABANDONED WEST

damn, i do not know which pics i shall show in this blog post: so wonderful, so awesome, so unique – so many galleries. TROY PAIVA is presenting his work at lostamerica.com , beside he offers there workshops in “NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY / LIGHT PAINTING”. here some informations about TROY (by lightpaintingphotography.com): “Light painting photographer Troy Paiva has been capturing night imagery since 1989. He considers himself an “Urban Explorer” and says that his light painting photography is a byproduct of his passion for investigating the ruins of “Lost America”. Troy spends much of his time alone in the middle of nowhere, photographing abandon building and places that America has lost to time. The sense of isolation and loneliness draws Troy to these locations, he says  “I love the surreal feeling of wandering through an abandoned subdivision, alone, in the middle of nowhere,  in the middle of the night. Your senses become heightened and you feel the weight of time.” Troy has written a book about his time spent light painting in these forgotten places called Night Vision: The Art of Urban Exploration.” me, i did not think about night photographing in the past. if i had to do a photo in the dark i usually used a flash or a stand, sometimes both and that’s all. when we had a shooting, the photographer had to know what to do. but creating art while taking photos in the dark? unusual idea, great idea. i am fascinated by the technique and the results. please check TROY’s site and take a look at the wide range of his work – getting hooked … pics | Troy Paiva
