this is something straight from the heart! this something about why doing a blog is often so great!

on the 5th of april 2011 i did a post about the upcoming bike film “CLOSER TO THE EDGE”, a documentary about the TOURIST TROPHY on the ISLE OF MAN. my buddy VOLKER WIEGMANN from great blog  www.vintagepanerai.com send this post to his friend RON because he lives on the ISLE OF MAN. RON isn’t only a great PANERAI fan but also very interested in boots, denim and all the other things we love. so he is a visitor of LIFE TIME GEAR from this day on. and what a surprise he send me an awesome ISLE OF MAN TT 2011 100 anniversary shirt. we got in contact and i wanted to do a post about RON and the little story we had together, but then something worst happend: i lost all my email data and much more in big computer crash. about this the post got forgoten – shame about me! but this year we met again @ the RED WING OWNERS CLUB site on FACEBOOK and so i contacted OLVER WENKEL another buddy of RON, VOLKER and me and i asked him meeky if he could ask RON for resending me the mail stuff from 2011, and he did. there wasn’t any problem. and now the post is written … here the trailer of CLOSER TO THE EDGE and some great pics done by RON. and RON, what’s about your boot collection? send me some pics to do a nice portrait of you and your boots – you’re welcome! pics | RON WELLDON, LTG _ vid | cinemanx

this classic SMOKE JUMPER was my first really heavy work boot. and till today i just wear these boots when i am hiking or when we have extremely bad weather. for good walking i customized the boot with a VIBRAM TREKKING SOLE and HEEL – this sole works really smooth! the boot is mega comfortable but this non-pussy thing is a WORK BOOT, special made for heavy work, walking and standing a long time a day and not for wearing by a graphic designer sitting in front of the MAC 12 hours a day. but i love this boots and would never sell it. it is still difficult and expensive to get WHITE’S, WESCO & co in europe. and i love the heritage a SMOKE JUMPER means …

i just got a mail from FRED c/o redwing1905 about these yesterday posted bandana leather rings. he sent me some pics (see below) of leather bandana rings made by MR. FREEDOM aka CHRISTOPHE LOIRON who has got most respect by me – for sure. he did similar rings times ago – i am really sorry, but i did not know this! respectful to your work CHRISTOPHE the HANDMADE BANDANA LEATHER RINGS post from yesterday has been deleted @ once. if the posted rings were not a copy but a new idea by PETER – ok –, but just the suspicion on copying is worse … LTG

this RWS IRISH SETTER PECOS #866 in my favorite “ORO RUSSET” RED WING color is really hard to find today. i got this boot one year ago from a deadstock in the US or JAPAN – i can’t remember. i wear this one carefully with the awareness that i will never get such a great PECOS anymore. i love this boot and style far away from fashion and mainstream. this boot shows where RED WING SHOES come from – the PECOS is a RWS true iconic work boot!

one of my smartest boots. so i mostly wear this one when i have business dates and meetings. very smart silhouette and mega comfortable. when i got these boots new i just put them on and i felt so well. great fit. perfect work by ALDEN.
