HANSEN | A ROAD LESS TRAVELLED | SPRING SUMMER 2012

ok, i remember seeing this brand in different blogs last year, but just now i recognized the beauty of work wear and history inspired HANSEN brand. the upcoming SS 2012 collection is called “A ROAD LESS TRAVELLED”. very nice shots. funny, these “hard working men” on the pics are the designer’s AASE HANSEN’s uncle ANDERS and cousin RICHARD. norwegian photographer BENT RENÈ SYNNEVAG made this “RURAL SWEDEN” image campaign perfect. built on a foundation of 3 elements: nordic expression, nordic values and nordic traditions – the message of HANSEN is “SIMPLE,  HONEST AND DEMOCRATIC EVERYDAY WEAR WITH LONGEVITY“ and i think they do what they pronounce. more about the collection and the products you’ll find at HANSEN’s site: www.hansengarments.com and great after-the denim-blog … and sometimes the pics remind me the men playing in the TV production EMIL I LÖNNEBERGA from the 70s, and this is a compliment. i loved the stories from ASTRID  LINDGREN – really old school! pics | © HANSEN

BOOT OF THE DAY | #108 | RED WING SHOES “BROGUE RANGER”

more really fresh news from the RED WING HERITAGE central europe reached me last night. WHAT A NICE BOOT!!! the RED WING STYLES 8126 & 8127. damn, they look so pretty. great combination: an IRON RANGER with a brogue or working goes chic. i am sure, these boots will be very successful. this is what RWS tells about these styles: “The 6-inch full brogue was first designed as a country walking shoe specifically created for use when crossing wetlands and bogs. For the people in Red Wing and the surrounding areas heading outside often meant trekking through the Minnesota wetlands and river basins. People needed a boot that could withstand constant exposure to water and a boot that when wet would not break down and hurt a person’s feet. The first people to wear brogues were farmers and gamekeepers. Small perforations were crafted into the leather of the toecaps, and quarters of the boot. This design allowed water to drain and the boot to dry at a quickened pace. The perforations, were only punched through the outer layer of the doubled-layered portions of the boots so that the weather resistance of the uppers was not compromised.” available in europe and the US fall 2012. pics | Red Wing Heritage, Europe

LIFE TIME GEAR | FAVORITES #40 | WALL OF VOODOO

damn, time is running. hearing yesterday some old sounds from the 80s – THE CULT, KILLING JOKE, THE MISSION, THE GUN CLUB … – i remembered me one of my absolute favorite bands: WALL OF VOODOO from hollywood, usa. i saw the band during the 80s several times before they splitt. maybe some folks still now first WOV singer STAN RIDGWAY who did a solo carrier after leaving WOV in 1985. he was followed by ANDY PRIEBOY. i just own one CD of WOV, their most popular one: CALL OF THE WEST. so i tried to get the rest but i had no success. hard to find anything and unbelievable: SEVEN DAYS IN SAMMYTOWN from 1989 costs 63 euros. so i ordered a “best of” at CD.UNIVERSE. WOV where really progressive for their time. so they covered RING OF FIRE from Cash in the 80 s when no one wanted to hear something from big JC. it is told that CASH loved this cover version very much. especially the first 2 releases inspired me with great sound combinations from western guitars over stumble synthesizers and drum machines combined with real drums to STAN’S pure american slang – crazy, and i still love it.

HOW TO LACE A BOOT #03 | STRAIGHT EUROPEAN LACING

STRAIGHT EUROPEAN LACING is also called LADDER LACING. it is a traditional method which seems to be more common in europe, lacing expert IAN FIEGGEN says. as the ARMY and HIKING LACING this method is easy to practice too. i like the straight ladder optic very much and the laces are really strong. you get a perfect hold in the boot for hours; no reduction. this is a disadvantage when you pull the boots on and out. pics | LTG | IAN FIEGGEN
