maybe you remember LTG post about VINTAGE PANERAI HISTORY 2 from july 2013. i was exalted about the book that i read it completely in 2 days. and believe me, this book just as HISTORY 1 is not only for PANERAI lovers. the stories about the KAMPFSCHWIMMER and their adventures and experiences during WWII are really fascinating and impressive. both books VINTAGE PANERAI HISTORY 1 and 2 are available at: www.vintagepanerai.com .

Watches with History – History 1: This book documents the stories of three german “Kampfschwimmer” units, their training in Italy and northern Germany, their missions at the eastern front in the last weeks of the 2nd world war, followed by the story of the commander of the italian submarine “Ambra” who delivered SLC and Gamma units to their target zones at the harbours of northern Africa. These four personal stories are building the columns of moving chapters together with detailed views on their watches, using latest extracts of the authors’ database of today existing vintage Panerai watches. BOOK VINTAGE PANERAI “HISTORY 2” | by RALF EHLERS & VOLKER WIEGMANN

some weeks ago VOLKER brought me his and RALF EHLERS new book VINTAGE PANERAI – WATCHES WITH HISTORY “HISTORY 2”. i wasn’t in the office so VOLKER couldn’t write me a personal signature to the book becuase it was originally packed. i wanted to wait for this blogpost till i got his signature. but he is in holidays now and i will be on friday. i had to do this post now, because i am so excited about the new HISTORY 2. in comparison to HISTORY 1 i began reading the book on the same day i got it. i was so attracted by, that i finished it one day later. most impressiv: the story about KAMPFSCHWIMMER JOCHEN BURNUS. my absolute highlight of the book. and i can tell you that the other stories are really exciting too and best researched, en detail. it is amazing what RALF and VOLKER do in their leisure time. and believe me these are not only books for PANERAI fans. if you are interested in WWII, diving and personal reports HISTORY 1 + 2 are best lecture. here is what the authors tell about HISTORY 2: “History 2 continues where History 1 ends – this book documents five previously unreleased stories of frogmen units of the 2nd world war. PANERAI STRAP BY LONAN RANGER ORIGINALS | WATCH STRAPS FOR RED WING SHOE LOVERS

thx RON for receiving this exciting letter today – the first one i got from the famous ISLE OF MAN – and thank you so much for the fantastic content: a handmade heavy leather watch strap for my PAM i just got back from repairing and revision. so awesome because of the unusual stitchings and the special color that fits my oro-iginal RED WING BOOTS 877 and 875 perfect. the strap is made out of natural veg tanned leather hide that was hand cut, hand dyed and hand stitched by RON himself. and i love the bright buckle because it fits the PAM more than perfect. damn, perfect d’artisan work and RON does it as a hobby – unbelievable. i do not know what he does in real life but the strap looks absolutely professional made. so i changed the actual strap to the LONAN RANGER ORIGINAL at once and please take a look at the pics: GREAT! beside, THE LONAN RANGER ORIGINAL is a play on THE LONE RANGER because RON lives in LONAN on the ISLE OF MAN. RON, thank you so much again. i will keep you updated about the look of the strap when aging. pics | LTG

HELLBRAND LEATHERWORKS | PANERAI SHELL CORDOVAN NATO WATCH STRAP

months ago i saw a blogpost from my friend JUNICHI c/o fortalitia-54 about belts made by HELLBRAND LEATHERWORKS. never heard before about them. i ordered two belts with a ring buckle. i can tell you: absolute perfect d’artisan leather works. checking their site last week i discovered that they are doing NATO WATCH STRAPS for PANERAI with corresponding wrist sizes. hard to find and very expensive. HL offers these wonderful straps made of genuine HORWEEN SHELL CORDOVAN for $130. damn. i ordered two of them. yesterday EDWARD c/o HELLBRAND LEATHERWORKS sent me pics of my handmade straps: the natural and dark brown ones in the pics below. the black one he made for his self – good choice, too. thank you ED for best advise and patience during the order process ;-)) it is always a pleasure to do business with you! till then … pics | Hellbrand Leatherworks

BOOT COLLECTION #02 | VOLKER WIEGMANN c/o vintagepanerai.com

VOLKER WIEGMANN has a very nice collection of RED WING SHOES. this is indeed not a
mainstream or fashion line up. these boots were well choosen by their owner. volker is
working as a production manager and coordinator of a very fine printing plant i often work
with. he is well known as one of the 2 men behind VINTAGEPANERAI.COM. with his buddy
RALF EHLERS he wrote 2 excellent panerai books and a third one is in progress. volker
is wearing RWS since 18 years and he never sold a pair. he got his first pair in 1993 from
PETER HECKMANN at darmstadt’s SURFERSPOINT which was closed years ago. peter
was a missionary for RWS in germany and especially in darmstadt. he has still a shop
