FALSE TONGUES ON RED WING SHOES & BOOTS

i know that not all work boot maniacs and RED WING lovers like FALSE TONGUES. and for some guys here in europe these piece of leather is or was totally unknown. 2 weeks ago i saw an upcoming RED WING BOOT from the HERITAGE COLLECTION with a FALSE TONGUE or how some people say with KlLTYs: the LINEMAN #2906. i think this style will be delivered with false tongues. i like this special work boot style for a longer time owning some WHITE’S BOOTS which came with false tongues. you can’t imagine how many guys asked me for this piece of leather the last years. most said: oh, these arefalse tongues? ah. no, i don’t like. last tuesday i got some false tongues from FRED c/o redwing1905.blog as a present. today i checked on which boots or shoes they would fit. but i did not put it into the laces, it was just a check. and i like it a lot! thanks FRED and thanks for the nice vintage box. and i am sure that there will be more and more guys like them too in the nearer future. pics | LTG and FRED

BOOT OF THE DAY | #156 | WHITE RED WING BOOT #8873

when i see these white RED WING BOOTS i always must think for MICKY MOUSE. very extraordinary and certainly from japan. i found these #8873 on great HOPESMORE’s auction site – you can buy it! the boots fit a 9.5D foot – my size. the boot is in really good shape – take a look at the soles. a fantastic boot for the brave one, an eye-catcher par excellence! i think the boot is from the late 90s. i saw a dead stock #8873 some times ago and i remember thatthis one was from 1998. pics | HOPESMORE

LTG FAVORITES #83 | ORO-RUSSET RED WING SHOES

i did this post to show my buddy RON WELLDON how different the oro-russet color on RED WING SHOES could look like, because he asked me something about. so here you can see my oro-russet colored RWS line up. sure the color changes with every wear. it is certain that oro-russet gets darker. look at the vintage #855 and #877 irish setter. but even the new boots show some differences: #4558 and #2940. the #866 PECOS is vintage but not worn so often and it shows again another color. but as you know: we love this handmade stuff and i am really glad that the shoe color isn’t all the same. exciting. that’s one reason why i love to wear and own RED WING SHOES! pics | LTG

RED WING SHOES “THE SUPERSOLE® TRIO” | BLACK RED GOLD

yes, black, red and gold are the colors of the german flag. AND these are also the colors of my 3 SUPESOLED RED WING SHOES called “FRANKFURTER”. the black one is style #8133, the red one #8804 and the beige or gold one is style #8118. all three boots are of different ages. the #8804 is my oldest with about 20 years, the #8118 is the newest in my cupboard but this one was worn years before and the black #8133 is about one year old. a great trio. one boot is nicer than the other. and i love walking on the SUPERSOLE® – it is so comfortable. pics | LTG

LTG FAVORITES #82 | RED WING SHOES WITH A SUPERSOLE®

KAMI from RED WING STORE FRANKFURT made me a big surprise! some months ago i asked him for an # 8118, because i am a great fan of the called FRANKFURTER RWS boots. they are and were made in three different colors and two leathers. i know that KAMI has an archive in his basement with some old worn and dead stock RWS – so, why not asking? he told me, that maybe there is one but he couldn’t promise. three weeks ago i helped KAMI in layouting an advertisement over night for his distribution firm. when i saw him the next time, it was at an event in the context of the MTV EUROPEAN AWARDS at B74, he took me aside and told me about a surprise for me. holy shit – he gave me an #8118. i was speakless because i know that the boot isn’t available anymore and i forgot asking him for the boot at this moment. the one he gave me is a vintage one, a return because of a small defect of the SUPERSOLE. KAMI and his staff restored the boot and it looks really really good. what a great piece. KAMI thank you so much again! a something special memory to your person – indeed. pics | LTG

LTG BOOT & SHOE COLLECTION | 18 | ICONIC VINTAGE RED WING SHOE STYLE 8131

one of my oldest and most beloved styles from RED WING SHOES: the # 8131. i think this boot is about 15 years old, maybe older. i bought it once at RED WING STORE frankfurt, but i can’t remember if KAMI was in there or the ugly american pre-owner – insider know whom i am talking about … there is no sign on the label and the marks on the tongues are not readable anymore. as you know the oro-russet is my absolute RWS color. awesome. pics | LTG
