NEZUMI DENIM CO. | FROM A “RAT” MADE IN SWEDEN

FREDRIK from SIVLETTO & UNIONVILLE, sweden, send me some information about a new swedish denim brand – and NEZUMI sounds interesting. this 2011 established premium jeans brand is from stockholm, sweden, founded by DAVID CAMPO CARDENES.

“the brand name NEZUMI means “rat” in japanese. the inspiration for the brand name comes from a book that DAVID read as a child about a legendary thief called NEZUMI KOZO who lived in japan during the EDO period. it is said that he stole from the wealthy samurai and gave to the poor turning the petty crook into a folk hero.”

DAVID’s passion for denim starts long ago and in 2002 he decided to search a factory in sweden which could make jeans – for years he couldn’t find one. but in 2011 he found a swedish family owned factory. with these people and their know-how he started NEZUMI by releasing the N 0-2-50 – seen on the pics below – limited to 50 pairs. here some facts: regular rise, slightly tapered legs, button fly, premium 13.5 oz rigid selvage denim from CONE DENIM, WHITE OAK, usa, … the hand debossed natural tanned patch is made of genuine full grain vegetable leather from TÄRNSJÖ TANNERY in sweden. interesting? indeed! and beside: the rugged INDY BOOT worn in the photo shooting is mega awesome. pics | NEZUMI

BOOT OF THE DAY | #136 | WHITE’S 2-TONE SMOKE JUMPER “KILLER”

for me one of the most beautiful WHITE’S BOOTS and work boots i ever saw. what a great color combination: sand and navy distressed suede leather – i love it. completed is this 6″ high boot by a double soled VIBRAM #700 and a classic regular toe. the boot was available at japanese VECK. you should keep this boot in mind for a custom order some day … pics | VECK

LIFE TIME GEAR BOOT & SHOE COLLECTION | 14 | RED WING SHOES ICONIC STYLE 877

one of my absolute favorite RED WING SHOE styles: the iconic 877 IRIH SETTER. a must-have in every work boot or RED WING SHOES collection. this classic moc toe was introduced in the early 1950s and the first RWS boot which was outfitted with the characteristic white crepe sole. i love especially the long stiches on the side of the boot. in comparison to the #877 the #875 just could be a light version of the “godfather of the RWS moc toe family”. the #877 is often seen on actors and was worn f.ex. by STEVE McQUEEN and JACK NICHOLSON. and because of best fit these guys enjoy the great comfort of the #877 even outside the studios and film locations. this #877 is one of two i own. in my collection there is another vintage one from the 70s in classic oro-russet, irish setter labelled – pics will follow. this one is one of my absolute rarities in my small collection. pics | LTG

MINI HIGONOKAMI | LTG’S JAPANESE POCKET KNIFE

hi, i’m back from holidays – time to get my haircut refreshed! so the circle is closed with this post, because tomorrow morning i have a date with OLLI “THE BARBER”. when i got my last cut nearly four weeks ago OLLI gave me a MINI HIGONOKAMI as a present – AWESOME. he made me really happy with this surprise and i must tell you that i never heard about HIGONOKAMI before. as a japanese tradition every young man is owning such a knife. the blade of a HIGONOKAMI interprets the shape of a traditional japanese sword blade made of a special three layer carbonate steel. the blade is bedded in a sheath of folded metal sheet without an adjustment. the knife will be opened with an “ear”. the HIGONOKAMI could be seen as the archetype of a switchblade – so far so good. my MINI HIGONOKAMI has a bladesize of 40 mm and the width of blade measures 2,45 mm. the complete length is just about 90 mm and the weight about is about 16g. i wear it with the lanyard of my REDMOON purse – great combo. and i love the smart tones of the little bell.
