RED WING SHOES UPPER TIER STYLE #8819 | SHOOTING

Some days ago I shot the last week launched upper tier Red Wing Moc Toe #8819 for the Red Wing Shoe Store Frankfurt. What a nice boot! It is made of Oro-Russet Portage and Oro Russet Abilene Leather and comes with leather laces plus original Red Wing nylon laces packed in a special old-school white Red Wing Box. The new model is a totally new and unique product. The combination on a Moc toe of Rough Out and Smooth leather has been done before in 1981, but this was a complete different execution on a different out sole. If you are interested in this special boot you have to be quick, because it is strictly limited. Once it is sold out, it is over. The boot is available @ Red Wing Shoe Store Frankfurt online and in-store. pics | © Life Time Gear for Red Wing Shoe Store  Frankfurt

RED WING SHOES x TELLASON DENIM | WHAT A PERFECT MATCH

Red Wing Shoes and Denim, Denim and Red Wing Shoes … what a great match. Even more if the denim fits absolutely perfect to the boots you wear! Take a look at the blue line raw selvage denim from Tellason on these nice blue RWS Moc Toe Style #8882. Or Tellasons Ladbroke Grove in 16.5oz Cone Mills White Oak ORANGE line raw selvage denim and this limited Irish Setter 9877 customized by Brian Troung. The oro-legacy leather of iconic RWS style #875 and #877 would also fit the orange selvage perfectly. And at last the RWS x Eat Dust Pecos #4327 made of Oro-Russet Portage and Abilene leather combined with classic red selvage from Tellason’s Gustave in 14.75oz Cone Mills White Oak denim. It is such a great idea by Tellason Denim to give each denim weight another selvage color – isn’t it? And again – it is all about the details. You mean this is something for nerds? No, but for Red Wing lovers and Denim Dudes! Best addresses to live this passion: www.b74.de and www.redwingfranfurt.com. pics | LTG

BOOT SHARING IN THE FAMILY | … OR SHARING THE PASSION FOR RED WING BOOTS

This is little Levi – my son –, the boy who did some nice Red Wing Shoes animation films for Red Wing Frankfurt, Germany, posted at the beginning of this year. Growing up seeing Red Wing Boots every day at his mum’s and my feet, it was just a question of time trying the first RWS boots on his own. “BOOT SHARING” is the magic word since some days at Levi’s home. What a luck, Mum’s #3375, the Red Wing Heritage Women’s version of iconic #875, fits so perfect. More light weight, with softer leather, a slender fitting than the #875 and a cushioned insole this boot is not only perfect for women’s feet but also for teens. But not only the women boots fit his feet perfect. The Red Wing #2918 Chelsea Ranger is his absolute favorite! Stepping through thick and thin, at school, in the yard, on dog walks, simply everywhere. And the best for Levi: no lacing – easy and speedy putting on and out. And this boot is aging so nice. So rugged, but you won’t get it broken down. Built to fit, built to last. Levi loves his nice “new” worn in Red Wing Boots from mum … while he is thinking about his next animation film where a Red Wing Boot will be the headliner. Have a great weekend! pics | LTG · video | Levi

RED WING HERITAGE ICONIC STYLE #8131 | VINTAGE versus NEW

One of my absolute Red Wing favorites is the iconic Moc Toe style #8131. Before handing out my brother his new oro-russet Moc Toe, I had to take some shots – I like the contrast so much. Maybe you wanna check out the “vintage versus new” photos. My rugged boot is from the 90s and when you check the pictures you can’t find many differences compared to the actual #8131. Obviously there is an embossed Red Wing Shoes logo on the outsides of the vintage #8131, while the new boot features the characteristic label at the tongue with a lot of information about the boot. All Red Wing Boots and Shoes have this label since years. The inseams of the heels are a bit different. That’s all. Never change a working system or a good working product! Thanks to the guys from Red Wing, Minnesota! Come and get your #8131 at the oldest Red Wing Shoe Store outside the USA in Frankfurt, est. 1977, in store or online www.redwingfrankfurt.com. pics | LTG

RED WING SHOES | NEW RELEASE: COOPER MOC #2954 & #2964

It seems to be a RED WING SHOES release week. Guys, the next new styles arrived at the stores: the COOPER, available in “AMBER HARNESS | #2954” and “BLACK HARNESS | #2964“. The classic design of the iconic RWS styles #875 and #877, which were popular in the past among sport and hunting enthusiasts, later construction workers, with that nowadays so beloved Cushion Crepe Sole, fueled the development of RED WING SHOES new COOPER collection. Okay – the COOPER – named for the woodworkers, who build barrels and casks. Compared to the #875 the COOPER shows two elementary differences: a smart profiled Vibram® 430 Mini-lug sole and speed hooks. I like the look of these new 6 inch Moc Toe boots a lot, especially the black #2964. Check these USA made boots @ Red Wing Store Frankfurt in store or 24/7 online. And for sure these boots can be resoled @ Red Wing Store Frankfurt! pics | Red Wing Heritage | blog.lostartpress.com

Here the story of THE MERCHANT: “Working as a merchant in Red Wing, Minnesota at the beginning of the 20th century, Charles Beckman experienced the need for durable and comfortable boots first-hand. In 1905, when he couldn’t find boots to meet his needs, he started his own shoe company: The Red Wing Shoe Company. More than a century later, Red Wing Shoes has now developed “the Merchant” as a tribute to Charles Beckman. The Merchant is based on traditional work boots from the 1920’s, when Red Wing started making boots without toe reinforcement to provide a more comfortable fit without stress points. In 1929 20 out of the 50 styles came without a toe-box. The “no toe-box” provides flexibility and comfort around the toe area. Style #245 from 1920 is the oldest and closest Red Wing work boot to the Merchant. Style #245 was called “black chief” and was made without a toe-box. The black chief came with a plain toe and was raw cut at the quarter edge.
The historical work boot most similar to the Merchant is style 245 from 1920, which was made without a toe-box, but instead featured a plain toe and raw cut at the quarter edge. The Merchant is built on the 8 last, which is also used for the Blacksmith. But because of the missing toe-box, the Merchant has a slimmer look and a lower toe profile than the Blacksmith.

The Pecos Boots: “Red Wing Shoe Company is perhaps best known for the work boots made for the farmers, miners, and sportsmen of the Upper Midwest but early on, we introduced another boot for a different group of workers in the American West. We had an office in Dallas, Texas as early as 1923 to serve the unique market of ranchers, cowboys and oil drilling roughnecks in the region. At the time, most of these workers wore pull-on riding boots, often with decorative stitching, and Red Wing responded with one of its own in the 1930s. By the 1950s, with typical Minnesota understatement, we did away with the decorative flourish and introduced a pull-on boot of our own devising.
This pull-on boot was given a new name, the Pecos, after a town in Texas and it evolved into one of our most popular styles. The renowned Red Wing durability worked as well on the ranches of the Southwest as they did the farms and fields of Minnesota. The appeal of the Pecos spread, thanks to its simple design, comfortable fit, and rugged good looks. Still made the same way with quality leathers in our factory in Red Wing, the Pecos is now seen on hardworking feet from coast to coast, both ends of the Mississippi, and everywhere in between. Call it a cowboy boot, with a Minnesota twist.”

The #8187 has a shaft ankle-length, is made of Hawthorne Muleskinner leather and got the iconic Red Wing Nitrile Cork Sole

RED WING #8882 INDIGO PORTAGE LEATHER & RWS FRANKFURT ONLINE SHOP RELAUNCHED

@ first some really great news for all RWS aficionados: The Online Store of Red Wing Shoe Store Frankfurt, Germany, has reopened after a complete relaunch: www.redwingfrankfurt.com! And I love this clean graphic style so much. I do not want to see the 877th rugged or vintage look-a-like page. Complements. Kami you did a perfect job with your team! So we did a test shopping some days before the shop went online … the result was the brand new limited RED WING #8882 – a perfect online order: Ordered in the morning and the next day the boot arrived. The online order process itself is very simple, fast and smooth … it works!

Constant readers of LTG Blog know that I like blue RWS a lot. Two years ago I got the indigo colored classic work #8100 Oxford from Japan and I still love it. The #8882 is the same shoe just 6″ high like the classic #875, moc toed, made of Indigo Portage Leather and completed by the Traction Tred Cushion Crepe Wedge. Very nice is the brown ending of the bootleg – a small detail, but I love the contrast between the rich blue and brown leather. Another nice feature: you don’t get only the standard Red Wing Shoe Laces but a second pair made of leather. The leather laces look very nice but for me these are not so practical. Okay guys … these blue beauties are limited – order your #8882 @ Red Wing Shoe Store Frankfurt online right now. pics | LTG
