BOOT COLLECTIONS | FRANK OTTERS BOOTS – “SOMETHING SPECIAL”

this week i got a mail with some very nice pics of extra ordinary boots – everything but not mainstream. i love this! FRANK OTTERS, living near frankfurt in nice BAD SODEN, TAUNUS send me pics from three of his favorite boots. he works in the real estate business and when he is not wearing a suit he prefers “everything that is raw”, not washed, real japanese denim and labels like EATDUST, CARHARTT-WORKWEAR, ENGINEERED GARMENTS, LEVI’S RED and POST O – and BECKMAN RED WING SHOES. good taste, we have some similarities. one of his absolute favorites is his olive JOHNSON MOTORS “278” jacket. he loves barbecue and cruising with his vintage OLDSMOBILE. to the boots. the first one is a vintage nice rugged in classic PACKER BOOT with beautiful stitchings. a boot for the working cowboy or horsemen. FRANK, nice laced up – looks like a classic ARMY LACING. this PACKER is about 40 years old. he got it from ebay USA. the second boot is a DAYTON boot named DRIVER. it is 6″ low, made of engineer leather with white leather heels and oil proofed cord soles. very smart and special because of the color combination. i remember that years ago you got this boot in a black and red combination beside of white. FRANK bought this boot last year in VANCOUVER directly at DAYTON BOOTS. the DRIVER is not available in the bad mainstream collection you can get in europe. the third boot is from KERO. maybe you remember my post from september 2011: DENIM DEMON x KERO BOOTS | WHEN A RED WING 877 GOES SWEDEN. FRANK owns a pair of this swedish boots. he told me that they are made of reindeer skin. i think to remember that they were made of cowhide leather – i don’t know. but this swedish “lapland style” looks great. thanks again FRANK for sending me these pics. pics | FRANK OTTER

RED WING SHOES | NEW SS 2013 WORK CHUKKA #3149 OLIVE MOHAVE LEATHER

he guys yet another new boot style from RED WINGS SHOES: the WORK BOOT CHUKKA #3149. not my cup of tea, but i think a lot of you will like it. i am not a chukka lover nor from RWS neither VIBERG or another boot maker. this is what RED WING HERITAGE EUROPE says about this chukka: “The Work Chukka earned its name and reputation in the 60’s, when these boots were crafted as a shoe for lighter duty work as an alternative to Red Wing’s heavy duty work boots. In most cases they were used for inside work like carpentry. While needed their boots to be sturdy,  they also needed to be light and flexible to accommodate the bending, climbing and kneeling which their work day required. As it has always been with Red Wing products, no compromises were made on the materials used to build this boot. Red Wing’s Olive Mohave Roughout leather was originally designed for US Marine footwear by Red Wing’s leather tanners. Roughout leather is used in shoes with the outer, smooth grain side and inner,  fluffed,  fresh sides reversed. When used in outdoor environments with gravel and ordinary shoes with the grain side outside tend to sustain damage to the leather surface. Valued for its strength,  flexibility and water resistant features, Red Wing Heritage is now incorporating this leather in their Heritage collection.” i think a RWS chukka will be the first boot for my little LEVI when his feet are large enough … pics | © RED WING HERITAGE EUROPE

RED WING SHOES | NEW ROUND TOE OXFORDS 8051 8052

i think a lot of you saw these so beautiful oxfords at past blogs from the RWS shops or the blogger community after last years fairs. but today i got some official photos from the RED WING HERITAGE  EUROPE central that i must show you. great shots. here the informations from RWS about the shoes: “Red Wing Heritage has just released a few new round toe oxfords for the Spring/Summer 2013 Heritage Work Collection available in Black Star (8051) and Brick Settler (8052). Inspired by the sports,  dress and work styles of Red Wing oxfords released in the 1930’s the round toe oxford is the perfect combination of work and play. The smooth grain Settler leather (8052) accentuates beauty marks like scars and scratches with a distinctive luster,  contrasting with the full grain Blackstar leather (8051),  which has been finished to provide a uniform appearance and color while providing resistance to water,  stains and perspiration.” by reading LTG blog you know that i am a great oxford fan and so i just reserved a pair 8052 at volls.de – i just phoned with KLAUS when the RWS mail came in. pics |  Red Wing Heritage Europe

BOOT OF THE DAY | #165 | VINTAGE RED WING SHOES #1945 ERIC CLAPTON CLASSICS WITH BLACK RUBBER TOES

damn, this is really heavy stuff: someone put black rubber on the toes of a rare classic ERIC CLAPTON RED WING BOOT style 1945. i’m always in extraordinary stuff, but this is even to heavy for me. never saw such a ”dirty nose” of a RED WING boot before and i don’t like this. it is done to protect the toes of getting wet; a sort of old school goretex® – waterproof rubber. this boot is actually on ebay now. if you like a pair of boots on which everybody will staring at and ask you why you have painted your boot toes with rubber, it is a must-have for you. apart from the rubber noses the boot is in a really good condition. pics | ebay name joeymest
