Hi folks, I hope you have had a relaxed Xmas time … or still have. As you know, the most beautiful presents are often the one you give to yourself. So I did for my boot collection: a Red Wing Boot style #956 in very good shape. Hard to find, hard to get. Shot these on a Japanese auction on Christmas eve – what a luck. I gave a fixed price and I did it. I love these simple style so much; must be from the late 80s or early 90s. They are now on their way to the LTG central.

When doing my daily blog, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook check up, I found these so nice illustrations at the Twitter account of @OreNo2Che from Japan. As you know I am a great comic fan – what a perfect combination this Red Wing boots inspired Manga drawings. I like the way the iconic RWS styles PECOS, HUNTSMAN, 877, LOGGER and ENGINEER are drawn. Since days I try to find the source of the pics – no chance. It would be great to see the whole pictures, the complete format and not only clippings. But I thought that you would like these clippings as I do. pics | Twitter account @OreNo2Che
Today the new Red Wing Black Lineman #2995 is launched and now available @ Red Wing Frankfurt – online and in-store. Lineman boots are the style of work boots for electric line workers. As compared to other Red Wing boots, Lineman boots consist of eyelet rows that pass through shoe laces extending till the toe. This allows adjustment for the boots to hold the feet tighter which is believed to improve the safety of lineman working at high places. This boot style of Black “Retan” leather is a revival of Red Wing classical work boots’ standard style, combining nitrile cork sole and Goodyear welt construction, original only to Red Wing.
THE HISTORY BEHIND THE STYLE
In the early 20th century, lineman was known as one of the most dangerous jobs. It was said that one out of three linemen was killed by accident on duty. Linemen thus needed high degree of safety from their equipment. The style of footwear that they preferred was lace-to-toe. The design makes shoe lace goes from toe part, ensuring tight holding of feet. Early boots that had this lace-to-toe system appeared in Red Wing’s catalogue in early 1940’s. Red Wing Lineman Boots inherit the lace-to-toe design from the boots.
Smooth-finished leathers have a polished surface that enhances the true beauty and quality of the leather. Only the most premium, top-quality hides are used to craft smooth-finished leathers. The result is a beautiful, classic-looking leather used to build more elegant styles, such as the Red Wing Heritage Beckman Collection. The polished look and feel of the smooth-finished leather requires more specialized care and attention to keep it maintained.

Next Wednesday, the 5th of July, the new Black Lineman style #2995 will be launched. Stay tuned for more information! In the early 20th century, as America built its electrical and telecommunications grid, linemen were known to have very dangerous jobs. Due to high fatality rates, linemen relied heavily on their equipment for safety. They preferred lace-to-toe footwear for the security of a tight fit around the foot. Boots like these appeared in Red Wing Shoe Co. catalogs in the early 1940s. The 2995 Lineman boot will be launched exclusively at European Red Wing Stores Wednesday, the 5th of July. Formerly only available in Japan, find the 2995 Lineman at @ redwingfrankfurt and other Red Wing Shoe stores. pics | © Red Wing Heritage
Customized iconic Red Wing #877. Found – where else – on a Japanese Twitter Account (MaH @MaH53137643). I like this kind of customizing with that fat soles and higher heels a lot. But beside soles and heels there is another fine custom thing that looks great and is very practical at these 8-inch Classic Moc: speed hooks! What a perfect #877 … pics | MaH @MaH53137643
The last month I presented some stuff from RINOUMA MADE IN JAPAN available @ B74, Frankfurt. Different wallets, brass hooks, leather and brass card cases – today I will show you the classic RINOUMA bags and a simple but so beautiful belt. The “CITY BAGS” are from RINOUMAS flagship leather combination line named RNBL featuring 20oz. paraffin coating water-resistant canvas, vegetable tanned leather, 2.0 mm-thick cotton tape, #10 YKK Japanese metal zipper with golden brass color, and premium brass metal parts – all materials 100% Japanese. The “CITY BAG” is available with strap and without in 3 different sizes. The leather RINOUMA uses for bags and this beautiful belts is a 4 mm thick grade steer hide which is tanned in one of the highest quality Japanese tanneries since 1937. The Japanese Craftsmen need 20 steps making this leather. It is a very old saddle leather making process with a lot of hand made processes. At first the leather is put to a light tanning pit, than to a little deeper, and so on. It takes about 3 months for a real deep tanning – without any chrome additions. So the leather soaks the maximum of tannin and the density of this gets very deep. Another effect is that the weight gets much heavier compared to normal leather. If you are interested in RINOUMA stuff don’t hesitate to write Kami owner of B74 – email@example.com – or give him a call +49 69 293329. B74 has a nice and fine selection of RINOUMA stuff in stock. pics | LTG

In February 2016 I wrote a blog post about 2 TELLASON Fatigue pants made of 8.5 oz cotton sateen in Olive Green and Khaki. These 2 pants where my constant companions this summer. The guys @ TELLASON now did a third Fatigue Pant, which is even smoother than the first I got. I love this touch and feel from the first moment on I tried this pant. It is TELLASON’s take on the iconic OD-107 fatigue pant from the Vietnam area. The new Fatigue comes in 7.5 oz 100% cotton twill from Japan, raw and unwashed, but so comfortable. With a tapered leg, zip fly, flap back pockets. For sure made in San Francisco. For more information check the AMTRAQ site for dealers where to buy this nice TELLASON stuff or contact Kami @ B74. pics | LTG
Amazing: there is a new brand available at B74, Frankfurt, GER. A Japanese one named “RINOUMA – MADE IN JAPAN”. They do wonderful bags, wallets, belts and are specialized in brass, using just Japanese manufactured materials only! Traditional work meets contemporary style. Today I will show you the long & short wallet with a fitting key chain and brass hooks. The wallets are made of steer hide leather tanned in Japan. At first the people at RINOUMA tried to make the wallets of Japanese saddle leather, which was nice, but a little bit too hard and stiff for wallets. So they tried to find a more soft feeling leather. They found a leather which is made by a small second generation family tannery, operating since 1921, in Hyogo, which is the most popular leather making prefecture in Japan. There is a clean river and always good winds for drying the leather – a perfect climate. This is the key to the finest quality for RINOUMA’s leather. It is a 3.3 to 3,7 mm thick steer hide leather. Craftsman add oil to the leather by hand for a varnishing finish. So the wallets get this so nice touch and feel. The brown color is also very clean and beautiful dyed. RINOUMA just uses premium Japanese brass parts. The zips run easy and the buttons work perfect. Men, take a look at these nice hooks. The key hook and the one with the wallet chain have a light bend, and so they hang perfect at your belt loop. Hooks and chain are handmade and made of 100% Japanese brass. Chains are manufactured by a vintage “chain-making-machine” older than 50 years. The hooks have such a wonderful matte finish which feels so nice. For me a perfect combination to the short wallet – I love it. AND, every piece is comes in a green paraffin coating canvas sack! If you got curios or interested in the great Japanese RINOUMA stuff, please write Kami owner of B74 – email@example.com – or give him a call: +49 69 293329. The next days I will show more RINOUMA stuff. You’ll like it – I am sure! pics | LTG
