There are some great news from CROOTS ENGLAND. Just yesterday their relaunched website went online. Respect, well done! Take a look at some screenshots or even better just visit crootsengland.co.uk, I’m sure you’ll like it. Some days before I got a lot of new pictures shot by Hamburg based photographer Joern Pollex. I picked some shots from the recently introduced and very well received full veg-tanned cowhide stuff that ages beautifully. Available at bags & luggage like the Laptop Bag or the Flight Bag as well as in small leather goods like wallets, cardholders, eyeglass and sunglass cases and sturdy belts with either brass or stainless steel buckles. For sure all proudly made in Northern Yorkshire, UK. Trade buyers can see the full new collection at Pitti Immagine Uomo in Florence 13. – 16. RED WING ENGINEER #2966 | SOMETHING REALLY SPECIAL

Red Wings 2966 ENGINEER is a Red Wing Store special. Red Wing Frankfurt just got some pairs left. It is a non-steel toe transformation of style 968. It is just perfect for the upcoming biker season. Made of Black Klondike leather, which is made from a brown base crust with a black paint finish that gradually wears off to reveal the brown color underneath. It ages beautifully and creates a great vintage look. Here some more special features: The boots have the Wing Label on the inside of the shaft which was used till early 80s | The 2966 has the stamp on the shaft instead of the print on the label. This was how the product information was shown in the Red Wing products till 2003 | The buckle 2966 is a high quality pressed buckle that was used on the steel toe work Engineer till 2000 | 2966 has the RED WING text logo printed on the Right shaft of the boots | The bare back stitch is used and the strap to hold it correctly in place | Brown Base box with Red Wing Label on the Box side is a box style from 1970s. RED WING HERITAGE ICONIC STYLE #8131 | VINTAGE versus NEW

One of my absolute Red Wing favorites is the iconic Moc Toe style #8131. Before handing out my brother his new oro-russet Moc Toe, I had to take some shots – I like the contrast so much. Maybe you wanna check out the “vintage versus new” photos. My rugged boot is from the 90s and when you check the pictures you can’t find many differences compared to the actual #8131. Obviously there is an embossed Red Wing Shoes logo on the outsides of the vintage #8131, while the new boot features the characteristic label at the tongue with a lot of information about the boot. All Red Wing Boots and Shoes have this label since years. The inseams of the heels are a bit different. That’s all. Never change a working system or a good working product! BRÜTTING DIAMOND BRAND | SHOOTING 40 YEARS OLD VINTAGE SNEAKERS

Last week I had the possibility to shoot two vintage pairs of BRÜTTING DIAMOND BRAND sneakers. Nearly 40 years old but still in good shape with wonderful patina. The white sneaker is an original classic ROADRUNNER, available since 1967, which is named “LongJog” today – compare the old vs. new versions below. The tan sneaker is an original ASTROTURFER, which was introduced in the 1970s especially to be applied on synthetic turf which was known as ASTROTURF®. Today this shoe is named “RoadJog”. All sneakers, the old and new ones, of the DIAMOND BRAND Collection are build on the same last named “Lydiard-Leisten” which was developed by Eugen Brütting and New Zealand Athlete and Trainer Arthur Lydiard. The special thing is the “sickle shape” which is a special mark of the DIAMOND BRAND shoes. Both sneakers show the famous “DIAMOND BRAND” label. The Brand-name was introduced to increase the awareness level also outside Germany and to make marketing easier. That’s the reason why BRÜTTING still uses this Brandname for the actual collection. The vintage ROADRUNNER seems to be resoled – a service which is still offered today. B74 has the LongJog in “allblack” and the RoadJog in “dust”. RINOUMA MADE IN JAPAN #03 | BAGS & BELTS

The last month I presented some stuff from RINOUMA MADE IN JAPAN available @ B74, Frankfurt. Different wallets, brass hooks, leather and brass card cases –  today I will show you the classic RINOUMA bags and a simple but so beautiful belt. The “CITY BAGS” are from RINOUMAS flagship leather combination line named RNBL featuring 20oz. paraffin coating water-resistant canvas, vegetable tanned leather, 2.0 mm-thick cotton tape, #10 YKK Japanese metal zipper with golden brass color, and premium brass metal parts – all materials 100% Japanese. The “CITY BAG” is available with strap and without in 3 different sizes. The leather RINOUMA uses for bags and this beautiful belts is a 4 mm thick grade steer hide which is tanned in one of the highest quality Japanese tanneries since 1937. The Japanese Craftsmen need 20 steps making this leather. It is a very old saddle leather making process with a lot of hand made processes. At first the leather is put to a light tanning pit, than to a little deeper, and so on. It takes about 3 months for a real deep tanning – without any chrome additions. So the leather soaks the maximum of tannin and the density of this gets very deep. Another effect is that the weight gets much heavier compared to normal leather. RINOUMA MADE IN JAPAN | LONG & SHORT WALLET WITH HANDMADE BRASS HOOKS

Amazing: there is a new brand available at B74, Frankfurt, GER. A Japanese one named “RINOUMA – MADE IN JAPAN”. They do wonderful bags, wallets, belts and are specialized in brass, using just Japanese manufactured materials only! Traditional work meets contemporary style. Today I will show you the long & short wallet with a fitting key chain and brass hooks. The wallets are made of steer hide leather tanned in Japan. At first the people at RINOUMA tried to make the wallets of Japanese saddle leather, which was nice, but a little bit too hard and stiff for wallets. So they tried to find a more soft feeling leather. They found a leather which is made by a small second generation family tannery, operating since 1921, in Hyogo, which is the most popular leather making prefecture in Japan. There is a clean river and always good winds for drying the leather – a perfect climate. This is the key to the finest quality for RINOUMA’s leather. It is a 3.3 to 3,7 mm thick steer hide leather. Craftsman add oil to the leather by hand for a varnishing finish. So the wallets get this so nice touch and feel. The brown color is also very clean and beautiful dyed. RINOUMA just uses premium Japanese brass parts. The zips run easy and the buttons work perfect. Men, take a look at these nice hooks. The key hook and the one with the wallet chain have a light bend, and so they hang perfect at your belt loop. Hooks and chain are handmade and made of 100% Japanese brass. Chains are manufactured by a vintage “chain-making-machine” older than 50 years. The hooks have such a wonderful matte finish which feels so nice. For me a perfect combination to the short wallet – I love it. AND, every piece is comes in a green paraffin coating canvas sack! This time there is something really new and special: RED WING SHOES launches its first contemporary women’s collection.
