BOOT SHARING IN THE FAMILY | … OR SHARING THE PASSION FOR RED WING BOOTS

This is little Levi – my son –, the boy who did some nice Red Wing Shoes animation films for Red Wing Frankfurt, Germany, posted at the beginning of this year. Growing up seeing Red Wing Boots every day at his mum’s and my feet, it was just a question of time trying the first RWS boots on his own. “BOOT SHARING” is the magic word since some days at Levi’s home. What a luck, Mum’s #3375, the Red Wing Heritage Women’s version of iconic #875, fits so perfect. More light weight, with softer leather, a slender fitting than the #875 and a cushioned insole this boot is not only perfect for women’s feet but also for teens. But not only the women boots fit his feet perfect. The Red Wing #2918 Chelsea Ranger is his absolute favorite! Stepping through thick and thin, at school, in the yard, on dog walks, simply everywhere. And the best for Levi: no lacing – easy and speedy putting on and out. And this boot is aging so nice. So rugged, but you won’t get it broken down. Built to fit, built to last. Levi loves his nice “new” worn in Red Wing Boots from mum … while he is thinking about his next animation film where a Red Wing Boot will be the headliner. Have a great weekend! pics | LTG · video | Levi

VINTAGE RED WING BOOTS STYLE #956

Hi folks, I hope you have had a relaxed Xmas time … or still have. As you know, the most beautiful presents are often the one you give to yourself. So I did for my boot collection: a Red Wing Boot style #956 in very good shape. Hard to find, hard to get. Shot these on a Japanese auction on Christmas eve – what a luck. I gave a fixed price and I did it. I love these simple style so much; must be from the late 80s or early 90s. They are now on their way to the LTG central.

SEASONS GREETINGS | THANK YOU

Hi guys, I am so sorry, to post only a few times this year on life-time-gear. I was very busy with my jobs and projects in “real life”. All the more it makes me proud and so happy that you still follow my blog or you just discovered LTG blog. Thank you so much for this! I am near the 2.500.000 click mark – awesome. I hope to feed LTG more often and frequently in 2018. So please stay tuned! Have some relaxed Xmas day and a Happy New Year, all the best, Eric   pic | carharrt

RED WING SHOE STORE FRANKFURT TEAMS UP WITH LIFE TIME GEAR | INSTAGRAM, FACEBOOK & CO.

Hi Guys, for those who did not hear about the collaboration between RWS Store Frankfurt, Germany, and me, now you know it. Since 1 1/2 year I feed the Instagram – @redwingfrankfurt –, the Facebook and Twitter – – accounts of the oldest and very first Red Wing Shoe Store outside the USA. And it is a great pleasure for me to do that, day by day. Working with friends, working for friends, working for maybe the best shoe brand of the world – yeah, it is indeed a great honor for me to do this! Before we start working together there was a long and deep friendship with Kami, Store-owner, and the other guys of the great Red Wing Frankfurt family. Our team work was a logical consequence and a win-to-win situation for us Red Wing aficionados. And I think  we do a good job – our number of followers is growing day by day. So come on and be part of the Red Wing Family and follow us, too 😉 … pics | LTG and others

RED WING SHOES | THE BLACK LINEMAN BOOT #2995

Today the new Red Wing Black Lineman #2995 is launched and now available @ Red Wing Frankfurt – online and in-store. Lineman boots are the style of work boots for electric line workers. As compared to other Red Wing boots, Lineman boots consist of eyelet rows that pass through shoe laces extending till the toe. This allows adjustment for the boots to hold the feet tighter which is believed to improve the safety of lineman working at high places. This boot style of Black “Retan” leather is a revival of Red Wing classical work boots’ standard style, combining nitrile cork sole and Goodyear welt construction, original only to Red Wing.

THE HISTORY BEHIND THE STYLE
In the early 20th century, lineman was known as one of the most dangerous jobs. It was said that one out of three linemen was killed by accident on duty. Linemen thus needed high degree of safety from their equipment. The style of footwear that they preferred was lace-to-toe. The design makes shoe lace goes from toe part, ensuring tight holding of feet. Early boots that had this lace-to-toe system appeared in Red Wing’s catalogue in early 1940’s. Red Wing Lineman Boots inherit the lace-to-toe design from the boots.

SMOOTH-FINISHED LEATHER
Smooth-finished leathers have a polished surface that enhances the true beauty and quality of the leather. Only the most premium, top-quality hides are used to craft smooth-finished leathers. The result is a beautiful, classic-looking leather used to build more elegant styles, such as the Red Wing Heritage Beckman Collection. The polished look and feel of the smooth-finished leather requires more specialized care and attention to keep it maintained.

RED WING SHOES | LAUNCH OF THE BLACK LINEMAN BOOT #2995

Next Wednesday, the 5th of July, the new Black Lineman style #2995 will be launched. Stay tuned for more information! In the early 20th century, as America built its electrical and telecommunications grid, linemen were known to have very dangerous jobs. Due to high fatality rates, linemen relied heavily on their equipment for safety. They preferred lace-to-toe footwear for the security of a tight fit around the foot. Boots like these appeared in Red Wing Shoe Co. catalogs in the early 1940s. The 2995 Lineman boot will be launched exclusively at European Red Wing Stores Wednesday, the 5th of July. Formerly only available in Japan, find the 2995 Lineman at @ redwingfrankfurt and other Red Wing Shoe stores. pics | © Red Wing Heritage
