RED WING HERITAGE WOMEN’S COLLECTION | THE “LEGACY” LINE

Today the RED WING HERITAGE WOMEN’S COLLECTION was launched. The next days I will show you the different lines and boots this collection offers our ladies. I will start with the “LEGACY” line which includes one style in two different colorways: the GLORIA. Red Wing Shoes says: “At Red Wing Shoes we’re incredibly proud of our 110-year history of making footwear of the finest quality and craftsmanship. The purpose of our Legacy Collection is to honor and build upon that history with progressive designs inspired by our boots of yesteryear. These were the very boots worn by women shaping and defining the 20th century, optimized for utmost comfort, wearability, and durability.” The GLORIA is available in a ”black boundary leather” which is style #3385 and a very nice brown named “mahogany oro-iginal leather” which is style #3386 and one of my absolute favorites of the new women’s collection. The used No. 109 last is based on Red Wing Shoe Company’s first style for women, the Gloria, carefully updated for a modern look and feel. LEVI’S HAND-STITCHED LEATHER BASEBALL | THE BEST “HANDSCHMEICHLER” EVER

Last Sunday I went to B74, Frankfurt/Main, Germany to visit my buddy Kami. B74 was open on Sunday because in Frankfurt there was the gigantic “25-Years-German-Wiedervereinings-Party” – most shops opened their doors and the city was crowded. This little LEVI’S LEATHER GOODS gimmick was lying at the desk and it looked so wonderful – just while lying there as it wanted to say: come and take me with you 😉 … but Kami: “Not for sale … even for buddies – no chance”. Okay, he just got 2 of these and the first owner of this pretty hand-stitched baseball was standing beside me. So proud of his daily companion. This piece of leather is really nice to touch and to handle, press and turn around in the hand … so f***ing relaxing. But this short story came to an happy end, because Kami gave it to me – he wants to check LEVI’S for a third one. Unfortunately I can’t give you further informations about the ball because you don’t find anything about in wwww – no chance – and I do not know anything about the history of baseballs and how they are made. When I got the ball out of the cotton bag I put some RED WING SHOES mink oil on it. The ball got an even better touch and a nicer color – I am excited about how my new „Handschmeichler“ will age … pics | LTG

RED WING POST #02 LAUNCH @ RED WING STORE FRANKFURT, GERMANY

Yesterday I joined the launch party of RED WING POST #02 @ RED WING STORE FRANKFURT “The Mother of all RWS Stores in Europe”. It was a really nice event with a lot of friends, some new faces and what a luck best cooled drinks, because yesterday in Frankfurt the thermometer showed again more than 30°C. It was so hot! Thx KAMI and his team for an amazing evening! It is a pity that the RW POST just appears once a year. Some peeks inside of this well done RW POST #02 will follow asap. pics | LTG

B74 SELECTED GOOD x LEICA GALERIE FRANKFURT | SUMMERPARTY

Yesterday I joined the summer party of B74 and LEICA Galerie in Frankfurt Main, Germany. It was such a nice party while the temperatures run up to 40°C / 104°F and more. On hour way home the instruments in the car showed  40.5°C outside … damn hot for a middle European. But the party was really cool, because KAMI owner and founder of B74 SELECTED GOODS, his team and the guys from LEICA did a really good job when they organized this event. Wonderful finger food corresponding to the hot summer weather, best service – i can’t remember me a minute without an ice cold water or lemon in my hand. I am a bit said that i could not meet the special guest Rainer W. Schlegelmilch. When I had to leave in the afternoon he still wasn’t there. Schlegelmilch is one of the most famous Formula 1 Photographers in the world. In the rooms of B74 there was an exhibition with examples of  Schlegelmilchs great work. I had the great pleasure to work with him in a project for a common client years ago. We did a Formula 1 calender. Yesterday you have had the chance to buy his book and to get a signature by the master himself. But no master, no book.  Although the weather was so damn hot a lot of people came and amazingly all people where in a good mood while sweating to the bones … pics | LTG

EVENT UPDATE WITH FEINSCHMUCK & PassionFrance® | B-74 CELEBRATES ITS 5TH BIRTHDAY

he guys, today KAMI c/o B-74 told me that the line up for the 5TH birthday event of the shop is fixed. happy to hear that FEINSCHMUCK and PassionFrance® will be in FRANKFURT next saturday 30TH NOVEMBER. FEINSCHMUCK will show a lot of works and the upcoming new collection 2014. WOLFGANG from c/o PassionFrance® will show a selected range of his unique knives. i know what he will bring with him – exciting! so much to see, so much to tell. the event starts at about 12:00 and will end at 20:00. check the schedule below with DUKES, who will do belt customizing, live music by ROB LONGSTAFF, customized worscht, meat & sauces by WURSTFONTAENE and RAKELLE. see you at BERLINER STRASSE 74 in frankfurt next saturday! THE NIGEL CABOURN CREW SIGN

another birthday present i got last week was this small emblem, sign or call it as you like from KAMI c/o RED WING STORE FRANKFURT. a great gift because you can’t buy it yet. he told me that he got it from NIGEL CABOURN himself at BREAD & BUTTER this january. all members of NIGEL’s crew wore this nice beautiful sign. it’s meaning? i do not exactly. the small piece of metal looking like a crown is the symbol you saw on my TRAVELLER’S NOTEBOOK ARMY EDITION from the NIGEL x MIDORI collaboration. it is the british broad arrow military symbol which was used during WWII to symbolise government ownership of the product. some guys told me that the rolled up piece is derived from something that has to do with the british submarine navy in WWII. i couldn’t find anything about this searching really intensive the web. but it’s from NIGEL and that’s enough i have to know as a great NC fan. thank you KAMI for this special gift. the BRASS ballpoint pen is in heavy use too! i tried the sign on some of my NC pieces and it fits.  pics | LTG | people FRED c/o redwing1905.blog

LTG FAVORITES #82 | RED WING SHOES WITH A SUPERSOLE®

KAMI from RED WING STORE FRANKFURT made me a big surprise! some months ago i asked him for an # 8118, because i am a great fan of the called FRANKFURTER RWS boots. they are and were made in three different colors and two leathers. i know that KAMI has an archive in his basement with some old worn and dead stock RWS – so, why not asking? he told me, that maybe there is one but he couldn’t promise. three weeks ago i helped KAMI in layouting an advertisement over night for his distribution firm. when i saw him the next time, it was at an event in the context of the MTV EUROPEAN AWARDS at B74, he took me aside and told me about a surprise for me. holy shit – he gave me an #8118. i was speakless because i know that the boot isn’t available anymore and i forgot asking him for the boot at this moment. the one he gave me is a vintage one, a return because of a small defect of the SUPERSOLE. KAMI and his staff restored the boot and it looks really really good. what a great piece. KAMI thank you so much again! a something special memory to your person – indeed. pics | LTG
