“STAY BEARDED” SNAPBACK CAP | by THE OLD STREET BARBER CO

I hate this f***ing and senseless discussion about having a beard or not, and even more talking about  being a hipster because having a beard … ??? A beard is just a beard! A sign of manliness, something you live with, something you have to care about … a part of you. I just feel sorry for those, who wear a beard as a sign of fashion or trend. Me, I wear different beard forms since the early 90s, but never without since this time. Everything started with a typical „GRUNGE” beard and I asserted that my head looked a bit smaller with it – an optical decision for the first time. I tried a lot of beard styles from the mustache over a “Coop” to this full beard today, sometimes shorter, sometimes longer, sometimes fuller, sometimes straight. So my devise is: “STAY BEARDED” and show the world that your beard however it looks like is YOUR statement, YOUR statement of personality and not a f***ing fashion trend. I was so happy when I found this great snapback at the THE OLD STREET BARBER CO website. They do grooming products for bearded men. I will test these soon. The caps are limited editions. At the flat peak I am working on, because I don’t like this style so much. It is high quality made, THE OLD STREET BARBER CO labeled inside and the 3D “STAY BEARDED” embroidery is awesome. THE IRON SOCIETY POMADE | HANDMADE IN BROOKLYN

Some weeks ago I got this awesome “Grooming Package” from my soul brother Kornelius c/o Soulobjects.de, Berlin. The IRON SOCIETY POMADE he send me in all three versions, is from this day on my absolutely favorite pomade. The benefit is, that you just can use the type of pomade you need for the day. From firm hold – as its name says with a stronger grip – over a normal hold that keeps the hair under control for “that neat freshly combed look” to a water soluble pomade with a medium firm hold. All types have unbeatable smells: aromatic, fresh and clean but at the same very masculine and dirty – perfect. I get the best results by mixing the water soluble pomade with the firm hold one or the normal hold one. Another effect by mixing the classic petroleum based pomades with the water soluble one is, that the wash out works perfect. GROOMING STUFF FROM SOUL OBJECTS BERLIN … AS A PRESENT … UNBELIEVABLE

Hi guys, first blog post 2016. I am sorry, but work was so hard and busy the first days of the new year. After a complete working through weekend it was such a pleasure to get a big parcel from SOUL OBJECTS BERLIN as a present – yes, as a present – this monday. What a superb surprise! Thank you so much soul sisters and brothers Melanie Rieman, Kornelius Werhahn-Mees and Oliver Hausner you made me really happy this day. What a perfect start for this week. And the best is, that I will have fun for weeks with this stuff. I noticed that the soul family send a lot of new products I do not know by now – exciting. JUST SOME X-MAS PRESENT IDEAS | #01 DAPPER DAN X-MAS POMADES

The days before Christmas I will post some present ideas for your wish list or maybe you will buy something special for a friend, brother, your dad or someone else. I will start with something really small and affordable but with most effect. Yesterday I went to Olli The Barber and got my cut refreshed. He gave me the new DAPPER DAN X-AMS EDITION pomade and the smell flashed me. I got the one with a Christmas glove scent – fantastic. There are 2 more scents: Christmas and cinnamon. BYRD POMADE | HAIRDO PRODUCTS

At first just a “Must-Have-Thing” because of BYRDs the wonderful classic and simple design. Love this. But now – a “Must-Have-Thing” because of the perfect use and results. Found these great pomades @ Soul Objects, Berlin, Germany – where else? And my secret of the perfect use is to use both pomades at the same time – just mixed up. This is an unbeatable mixture in look and hold. Usually I don’t like water-based pomades so much because if you did your style, your pomp must last for the rest of the day. When you use a wax based one you always can re-style your pomp or hairdo, but sometimes you need the hold of a water based pomade … so … easy … mix’em up. And I love the citron smell of both so much. THE ONE WHO KNOCKS POMADE & BLUE JACKET BEARD OIL | by SHEAR REVIVAL

Some weeks ago I discovered the one and only TOWK “THE ONE WHO KNOCKS” POMADE by SHEAR REVIVAL. For me the absolute best pomade i ever used the last nearly 20 years. The consistency, the usage and this unique and perfect smell is unbeatable. I discovered TOWK at the wonderful done THE POMP site. Check the video below and you will see TOWK in use and a well done review. TOWK is made of beeswax, white petroleum, organic coconut oil, microcrystalline wax, jojoba oil, castor oil, fragrance oils. It is a traditional petro/oil based pomade. I need two washes to get it out. The hold is just perfect for my light hair: medium/firm and for me so important: the whole day renewable without using another portion of pomade. The smell is a killer: it is an oak aged bourbon scent with hints of oak, vanilla and coffee. Because of this IT KNOCKS! My mother told me that this pomade smells similar to the one her dad, my grandpa, used a long time ago – classic. The color ist light blue and it is made in Asbury, New Jersey, USA. The Blue Jacket Beard Oil is very nice too and for sure it is also pure organic made. The smell is very nice but not so KNOCKING and after use your beard is so smooth. Very fine. And the prices from Shear Revival are fine too! The problem for us Oversea-People is to get this wonderful stuff. Just directly from the states. 10 MUST-HAVE-X-MAS-PRESENTS | #07 | CHICAGO COMB MODEL No1 MATTE FINISH

there is not much to say about this comb: it is just PERFECT!!! i never possessed such a nice comb which i got from POMADE SHOP here in germany. it is medium long, made of KENTUCKY steel, processed in INDIANA, and finally laser cut and hand polished in CHICAGO: so 100% made in the usa. Matt brushed, satin finished, 5.5 inch long (14 cm) and 1.18 inch high (3 cm) and has 41 teeth, unbreakable and inflexible, perfect to handle. for sure it is resistant to pomades, hair tonics and easy to clean with hot water. this thing from the CHICAGO COMB CO. is a really MUST-TAKE-WITH-YOU-OBJECT. in german we say “this is a HAND SCHMEICHLER” – what means that you have to touch it all the time … pics | LTG

BIGGEST POMADE BOX EVER SEEN “MR. DUCKTAIL”

yesterday i got my order from pomadeshop.de. some weeks ago OLLI THE BARBER gave me a small box MR. DUCKTAIL pomade to try. i love the consistence and the smell of coke and citrus fresh. for home-using i ordered the big 400 ml /net. wt 14 oz box – wow i did not imagine that it would be so big. great – the caliber is about 14 cm! i think it will last some time. pics | LTG

HAIR DRESSING | LIFE TIME GEAR’s ESSENTIALS

when i wear no hat or cap i always use pomade. i do this such a long time that i can’t remember when i started greasing my hair. it needed years to find the right grease or rather the perfect combination: not to slicky but hard, not too hard, but firm, sometimes using some hairspray, … at the beginning i used classic pomades like ROYAL CROWN, DAX, SWEET GEORGIA BROWN and others. i was be cheesed of getting out these things of my hair. so i discovered and used a long time the classic AMERICAN CREW POMADE and i started to mix different sorts of AC products f.ex. POMADE with FIBER. the result was good but not perfect. one year ago i found the best combination ever: LAYRITE ORIGINAL DELUXE POMADE, 4 oz, mixed with BLACK DIAMOND POMADE, STRONG HOLD – absolute perfect. sometimes i combine LAYRITE with MR. DUCKTAIL POAMDE, this works perfect too. for extreme long hold i use the german classic SPRÜHGOLD. bad: combing after using spray isn’t possible anymore and makes bad looking. very important before combing: allocating the pomade with a special brush. since more than 5 years i use always one comb. this is made of carbon in japan. OLLI THE BARBER gave it some day as present to me. this is the best comb i ever had – and a pocket comb is always with me, even if i wear a hat – this is a must! bad pics | LTG
