THE IRON SOCIETY POMADE | HANDMADE IN BROOKLYN

Some weeks ago I got this awesome “Grooming Package” from my soul brother Kornelius c/o Soulobjects.de, Berlin. The IRON SOCIETY POMADE he send me in all three versions, is from this day on my absolutely favorite pomade. The benefit is, that you just can use the type of pomade you need for the day. From firm hold – as its name says with a stronger grip – over a normal hold that keeps the hair under control for “that neat freshly combed look” to a water soluble pomade with a medium firm hold. All types have unbeatable smells: aromatic, fresh and clean but at the same very masculine and dirty – perfect. I get the best results by mixing the water soluble pomade with the firm hold one or the normal hold one. Another effect by mixing the classic petroleum based pomades with the water soluble one is, that the wash out works perfect. SPIEWAK GOLDEN FLEECE @ VOLLS.DE

when i went to the post office yesterday i did a short turn to VOLLS, checking some new stuff KLAUS got the last days. i was really excited about the new SPIEWAK GOLDEN FLEECE jackets. especially the WAXED DECK JACKETS i like a lot. these DECK JACKETS were some of the most favorite jackets for the US FORCES in the 1940s. SPIEWAK was the official manufacturer of the us navy and air force and so the first maker of the nowadays famous and classic deck jackets. they are available in classic olive and navy blue with a shearling collar. both are made of waxed cotton. the camouflage jacket is an absolute damn f***ing must-have item. it is really special but so nice. i am sorry that i don’t have any more informations about it – i was flashed that i forgot to ask KLAUS about some facts. check volls.de, i think the jacket will be soon online in KLAUS’ shop – the deck jackets are online right now. the down filled AVIATION SNORKEL PARKAS are a contemporary interpretation of the famous and classic N3-B PARKAs from the 1950s. these are nice too but mainly useful with their TEFLON coated, wind and water resistant outer fabrics and a lot of other practically features and details. NEW YORK CITY BROOKLYN SOAP COMPANY | TURNING REGULAR DUDES INTO DAPPER GENTLEMEN.

i was really surprised when i got the package full of these utmost organic grooming products from the BROOKLYN SOAP COMPANY. rarely i got such a tasteful packed box and not to mention the look of the bottles – awesome! one of the best designs of grooming products i ever saw. and every bottle has its own handwritten paper which person from the company filled it up and a hand stamped date how long the product can be used – love this! this means something personal and human to me in this f***ing fast digital and cursory times. all products are “cooked home-style” with natural and organic ingredients. the statement “born in brooklyn – made in germany”, in HAMBURG, i do not understand really – couldn’t find any information about this. hm, anyway all products are developed and made in germany. the ingredients, even the bottles and the other hardware come from german manufactures. for more information please check their site. i got the bodywash, shampoo and beardwash – all products are since 3 days in use. the beard and the bodywash work perfect and the smell is really exciting fresh but at the same so smooth and cushy. with the shampoo i am a bit doubtful because i am using pomade, LAYRITE, a water soluble one, but i have to work it out hard. maybe i just have to take some more shampoo, hotter water … – i don’t know, i will test it. it is a pity that the pomade and the deodorant are sold out; curios to test these too. beside, in 2014 the company won the REDDOT AWARD – congrats! pics | LTG

30 minutes ago i got a newsletter from PRESENT LONDON: 15% off – outerwear – code XX. on the screen i saw a jacket which i really good know because last year i was thinking maybe to buy this one. this jacket from the newsletter looks nearly 100% as the ENGINEERED GARMENTS from SS2013. is this a sale? okay, when i checked the page i saw that it is WILLIAM FOX & SONS PATCHWORK BELLOWS JACKET from the actual SS2014 collection. okay?! so searched the EG jacket from SS2013. knowing that EG has a wonderful organized collection archive at their web page i found it in a minute. damn these two jackets look so similar. is there even a business connection between EG and WF&S? you know something about? pics | Present London, Engineered Garments, blog fashionbeans.com

hearing HIGH HOPES the new album of THE BOSS and the version of GHOST OF TOM JOAD with TOM MORELLO from RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE i remembered this great video. damn. when i saw it the first time i got flashed. this is a wonderful version of the song even more since i know about the history of TOM JOAD and STEINBECK’S “THE GRAPES OF WARTH”. these are 9:00 minutes pure emotion what THE BOSS and TOM MORELLO performed at the 29th and 30th of october 2009 at MADISON SQUARE GARDEN, nyc. and now a new studio version of this song by these two great artists is on HIGH HOPES – great! i love it … but the live version is even better! pics & video | © Bruce Springsteen & Tom Morello

since the first time i saw the work of NY based JON CONTINO i am a fan of his graphics and designs. this happened, i don’t know exactly, about 3 years ago, when i discovered the CXXVI Clothing site. it was amazing for me because i never saw such really nice and individual hand drawn types and graphic works before. so i was really happy to find these iphone cases with the classic CONTINO motives WHISKEY & CAPE HORN 2 weeks ago. the whale was on my first shirt  i ordered at CXXVI. it got a really rugged vintage look over the years and i still love it from the day on when i took it out of the parcel. the cases look better than they fit. it is hard to get the phone in and out of the case – whatever, they look great and the touch is okay too. and the price is okay! you can order these cases or with other motives and more CONTINO stuff at SOCIETY 6 . shipping to europe is 10 US$. pics | LTG

wow, speed shipping: yesterday afternoon i ordered this anchor printed vest from one of my favorite labels ENGINEERED GARMENTS @ THE BUREAU BELFAST, ireland. this noon, 30 minutes ago the FEDEX man ringed the bell and gave me the box with the vest and the last issue of INVENTORY MAGAZINE. what a wonderful oxford cotton vest with cinch back, slanted chest pocket and 2 lower patch pockets. as every EG piece made in NEW YORK. not onlay another anchor piece, but an extraordinary one! pics | LTG
