RED WING HERITAGE WOMEN’S COLLECTION | THE “CORE” LINE

Yes, the “CORE” line is my favorite one! This line is what RED WING means to me, also for women: a perfect adaption of men’s classics for women’s feet. Iconic styles like the Moc Toe #875, the Iron Ranger #8111 and the Engineer #2990 are developed for women’s feet requirements and needs. A perfect idea, knowing a lot of women wearing RED WING SHOES for years anyway. My wife never wailed about heavy or uncomfortable boots, but I know other ladies who did. So, right now they will get the perfect RED WING labeled boot with a perfect fit. This is what RED WING HERITAGE tells us about the “CORE” line: “Since our original Red Wing Heritage collection first started hitting the streets nearly a decade ago, women around the world have proudly worn our boots. The Core Collection features the most popular styles from our current men’s line, deconstructed and completely rebuilt for women, resulting in a boot that is lightweight, way more comfortable, and just as tough.” Something about the last RED WING used. Last No. 105 is based on our original Classic Moc, this is Red Wing’s most iconic style like the mentioned #875. The women’s version has been slimmed down just a bit in the width and toe for a true women’s fit. Sounds good! Last No. 107 is used to give shape to the engineer boots. Based on the men’s #522, it’s a pull on lace that fits true to size. The No. 106 last is based on one of RED WING’s oldest lasts, the 8 last, slightly modified for a better fit and sleeker feel for women. This timeless round toe shape gives the character to many of most popular RED WING boots. You’ll get the RED WING HERITAGE WOMEN’S COLLECTION @ RED WING FRANKFURT in store and online, the other RWS shops around the world and selected RWS dealer. pics | RED WING HERITAGE

RED WING HERITAGE WOMEN’S COLLECTION | THE “LEGACY” LINE

Today the RED WING HERITAGE WOMEN’S COLLECTION was launched. The next days I will show you the different lines and boots this collection offers our ladies. I will start with the “LEGACY” line which includes one style in two different colorways: the GLORIA. Red Wing Shoes says: “At Red Wing Shoes we’re incredibly proud of our 110-year history of making footwear of the finest quality and craftsmanship. The purpose of our Legacy Collection is to honor and build upon that history with progressive designs inspired by our boots of yesteryear. These were the very boots worn by women shaping and defining the 20th century, optimized for utmost comfort, wearability, and durability.” The GLORIA is available in a ”black boundary leather” which is style #3385 and a very nice brown named “mahogany oro-iginal leather” which is style #3386 and one of my absolute favorites of the new women’s collection. The used No. 109 last is based on Red Wing Shoe Company’s first style for women, the Gloria, carefully updated for a modern look and feel. You’ll get the RED WING HERITAGE WOMEN’S COLLECTION @ RED WING FRANKFURT in store and online, the other RWS shops around the world and selected RWS dealer. pics | Red Wing Shoes

Here the story of THE MERCHANT: “Working as a merchant in Red Wing, Minnesota at the beginning of the 20th century, Charles Beckman experienced the need for durable and comfortable boots first-hand. In 1905, when he couldn’t find boots to meet his needs, he started his own shoe company: The Red Wing Shoe Company. More than a century later, Red Wing Shoes has now developed “the Merchant” as a tribute to Charles Beckman. The Merchant is based on traditional work boots from the 1920’s, when Red Wing started making boots without toe reinforcement to provide a more comfortable fit without stress points. In 1929 20 out of the 50 styles came without a toe-box. The “no toe-box” provides flexibility and comfort around the toe area. Style #245 from 1920 is the oldest and closest Red Wing work boot to the Merchant. Style #245 was called “black chief” and was made without a toe-box. The black chief came with a plain toe and was raw cut at the quarter edge.
The historical work boot most similar to the Merchant is style 245 from 1920, which was made without a toe-box, but instead featured a plain toe and raw cut at the quarter edge. The Merchant is built on the 8 last, which is also used for the Blacksmith. But because of the missing toe-box, the Merchant has a slimmer look and a lower toe profile than the Blacksmith.

The Pecos Boots: “Red Wing Shoe Company is perhaps best known for the work boots made for the farmers, miners, and sportsmen of the Upper Midwest but early on, we introduced another boot for a different group of workers in the American West. We had an office in Dallas, Texas as early as 1923 to serve the unique market of ranchers, cowboys and oil drilling roughnecks in the region. At the time, most of these workers wore pull-on riding boots, often with decorative stitching, and Red Wing responded with one of its own in the 1930s. By the 1950s, with typical Minnesota understatement, we did away with the decorative flourish and introduced a pull-on boot of our own devising.
This pull-on boot was given a new name, the Pecos, after a town in Texas and it evolved into one of our most popular styles. The renowned Red Wing durability worked as well on the ranches of the Southwest as they did the farms and fields of Minnesota. The appeal of the Pecos spread, thanks to its simple design, comfortable fit, and rugged good looks. Still made the same way with quality leathers in our factory in Red Wing, the Pecos is now seen on hardworking feet from coast to coast, both ends of the Mississippi, and everywhere in between. Call it a cowboy boot, with a Minnesota twist.”

The #8187 has a shaft ankle-length, is made of Hawthorne Muleskinner leather and got the iconic Red Wing Nitrile Cork Sole

RED WING SHOES | HERITAGE AT ITS BEST: ICONIC LINEMAN BOOTS STYLE #2996

In the early twentieth century electricity went to nearly all households across the United States. More and more workers, these so called “LINEMEN”, began to lay high voltage lines across the whole country. This was a very dangerous job and so safety gear was required to protect the workers, f.ex. special boots. In 1952 Red Wing Shoes produced their first Lineman style #606. Compare this one with the new #2996 – this is what heritage means! Characteristic for the LINEMAN boot is the lace-to-toe design which means, that the shoe laces go all the way to the toe part for more stable footing, for a tighter fit. Trying the boot on and lace it you will notice this. I like this compact fit. The #2996 features: Cigar Retan leather upper | Leather lining | Lace-to-toe with speed hooks at top | Gusseted tongue | Leather-covered foot bed | Goodyear welt construction | oil resistant signature nitrile cork sole. For sure these boots are made in the USA. The #2996 is exclusively sold @ RED WING STORES around Europe and in Japan. After 4 really nice but busy days B74 ORDERSHOW is closed since 3:pm. Smooth and relaxing without any stress and hectic pace … like the other days … see you in January 2017. pics | LTG

B74 ORDERSHOW S/S 2017 | DAY #03 “WORK, FUN, PEOPLE, FRIENDS, COOL, HEARTY – GOOD LIFE”

Next day … time is running at B74 ORDERSHOW – too fast: Day #03. It was again a very relaxed but at the same time busy day for the exhibitors, the catering and for me … always on the run. But again I met people in a really good temper. I got some interesting new contacts, heard a lot of about new products, collections and other detailed things you’ll never ever hear about if not talking to these professionals, these insiders – I love it! When the ODERSHOW will be over tomorrow I will show you some product shots the next days. Today? People, friends … do you feel the good vibes? pics | LTG

B74 ORDERSHOW S/S 2017 | DAY #02 “SHINING SO BRIGHT – THE SUN OVER FRANKFURT AND THE VIBES @ ORDERSHOW B74”

Second day @ B74 ORDERSHOW. Not such a smooth start as yesterday because of f***ing Frankfurt city traffic – a lot of road works: too much. Orange Beast brought me in under 15 Minutes from DA to FFM, but then it took me about an hour from the first FFM road sign to B74. Breathing … calm down … and then the sun went up, blue sky, just some cool clouds, the banking towers, the B74 sign, beloved SPIDERMAN: what a view, when you reach the parking lot of B74! This view compensated all trouble before. After the first espresso I started my daily tour and met a really good friend: Oli Breitwieser from RIDERS ROOM in Hamburg, Germany. It was 2 years ago we met the last time – damn. And it was an absolute pleasure to meet Sven Eden, the owner of RIDERS ROOM. Seen so often @ social media but today for the first time live – great! Some impressions from today. Enjoy – I did! For sure!! See you tomorrow! pics | LTG

B74 ORDERSHOW S/S 2017 | DAY #01 “GETTING STARTED … MUCH TRAFFIC …”

This morning B74 ORDERSHOW started. For me a smooth start cruisin’ 30 kilometers with the Orange Beast straight to my parking lot directly in front of B74 – thx for this comfort, KAMI – this is f***in great! While getting my equipment ready it was really busy at the stalls around me … here just some impressions. There was such a great mood and really good vibes there @ B74 today … see you tomorrow … pics | LTG
