BRÜTTING DIAMOND BRAND | SHOOTING 40 YEARS OLD VINTAGE SNEAKERS

Last week I had the possibility to shoot two vintage pairs of BRÜTTING DIAMOND BRAND sneakers. Nearly 40 years old but still in good shape with wonderful patina. The white sneaker is an original classic ROADRUNNER, available since 1967, which is named “LongJog” today – compare the old vs. new versions below. The tan sneaker is an original ASTROTURFER, which was introduced in the 1970s especially to be applied on synthetic turf which was known as ASTROTURF®. Today this shoe is named “RoadJog”. All sneakers, the old and new ones, of the DIAMOND BRAND Collection are build on the same last named “Lydiard-Leisten” which was developed by Eugen Brütting and New Zealand Athlete and Trainer Arthur Lydiard. The special thing is the “sickle shape” which is a special mark of the DIAMOND BRAND shoes. Both sneakers show the famous “DIAMOND BRAND” label. The Brand-name was introduced to increase the awareness level also outside Germany and to make marketing easier. That’s the reason why BRÜTTING still uses this Brandname for the actual collection. The vintage ROADRUNNER seems to be resoled – a service which is still offered today. B74 has the LongJog in “allblack” and the RoadJog in “dust”. For those who want to know something about the history of this new RWS Boot: “In America’s 20th century, the bold and hardworking men who labored on oil rigs had one of the most dangerous occupations around. In order to do their jobs in these hazardous conditions the men needed to be tough and have a taste for challenging work. These traits were how oil rig workers received the nickname, “Roughnecks.” Inspired by these hardworking roughnecks, Red Wing’s Round Lug styles were built not only to look tough, but act tough. Their distinctively rugged appearance is enhanced by our classic Roughneck leather.

BRÜTTING DIAMOND BRAND | HIGHEST QUALITY SNEAKERS HANDMADE IN GERMANY

Got a box with 2 BRÜTTING DIAMOND BRAND trainers some days ago to check the stuff. And I was surprised – really. I am not a great sneaker or trainer fan for sure, so I wear these when I do sports in the gym or while running. But these BRÜTTING DIAMOND BRAND thing is not only a sneaker. These shoes are the only sneaker which are made completely by hand in Germany. The brands manufacture stands for lastingness, highest quality and a human measure. Only the best materials are used and everything is checked by strict high-quality controls. The shoes feature a natural rubber sole which gives every shoe an individual character. The rubber heel cap is a typical brand recognition. Also the waxed laces are made in Germany – with the “MELBOURNE” you get a second pair of laces in blue, red or black – nice! The leather insoles are replaceable. I can tell you that the shoe is mega comfortable. The magic square BRÜTTING DIAMANOD brand leather patch is really expressive and lives up the earlier success at the premium sneaker market. Since the late 60s BRÜTTING trainers and runners were produced. From this time on the brand name BRÜTTING stands for a perfect fit, highest quality and best comfort. EUGEN BRÜTTING developed shoe lasts, that were worn by the whole runner elite at this time. The models “ROAD RUNNER” und “ASTROTURFER” got cult status in the runners scene till today. The BRÜTTING DIAMOND BRAND sneakers are based on this former styles. The “MELBOURNE” is a redesigned allround jogger and the black ”LONG JOG” is an update of the classic model ”ASTROTURFER”.

The sneakers are available @ B74, Bube & König, Vater & Sohn, 14oz/Berlin and VMC/Zürich or directly at BRÜTUNG DIAMOND BRAND. Actual you get 2 models each in 3 color ways. pics | LTG

ALDEN x VOLLS INDY BOOT CUSTOMIZED BY SCHUHGOTT

Hi guys, long time no blog … I am sorry, but my real life needs me: toooooo much work, a lot of trouble the last weeks.  I hope it will get better now. Yesterday I wore these amazing customized ALDEN x VOLLS INDY BOOTS for the first time after customized by INGO KELLER who runs SCHUHGOTT in Cologne, Germany. And I must tell you, that these boots were much more comfortable to wear than before: great walking. I bought these ALDEN x VOLLS cooperation boot 2 years ago and I wore it just several times. I am not a friend of “just leather soles”. I know that a lot of you will say “Damn this boot looks quiet smarter with a pure leather sole”, but I didn’t like it. I wore too often work boots and heavy western boots. When I wear a boot or a shoe with a leather sole I have the feeling wearing ballet shoes, not to mention about the grip. INGO put classic DAINITE sole and heel under a double leather sole construction and I love the look now – and the comfortably. A really clean and perfect work for my now daily ALDEN. If you want to customize your boots or shoes just contact INGO. He is open minded to your wishes and a specialist for Red Wing Shoes resoling:

BOOT OF THE DAY | #193 | POST WAR II LACE UP BOOTS

Something special today. Please excuse the “non-perfect” pics but I did not make these myself. My boot buddy from Facebook’s BootOC – Boot Owners Club – HOUTY send me this from his new unworn dead stock post World War II boots. Aren’t these wonderful? Best condition. He bought the boots in Amsterdam for – in German we  say: “Apfel und ein Ei” – …  an apple and an egg … what means very cheap.  Houty wrote me that the  boots are built as robust as the vintage German tank TIGER – and indeed, they look damn tight. The boots must be made in the early fifties; before this time German military boots had no laces: mybe you know the famous “Knobelbecher”. I think they are about 6″ high, have a massive profiled nailed VORWERK sole, leather insole, 6 eyelets and a metal shank at the toe. Houty put the laces of his vintage Red Wing’s Beckman to it. Best look – great deal! If you have some questions concerning to the boots, please feel free to contact Houty. pics | HOUTY

BOOT OF THE DAY | #192 | ALDEN DARK BROWN COUNTRY CALF GRAIN INDY BOOT @ FRANS BOONE

What a wonderful boot! When I had to compose a boot for my own it could have the same look as this ALDEN available @ FRANS BOONE did with. From the bootleg to the sole – just perfect. Love the chocolate structured grain calf leather combined with one of my most beloved soles: the ALDEN crepe sole with a leather tip. Combine this great look: the brass eyelets and hooks. Awesome. pics | @FRANS BOONE

RED WING SHOES #8853 & #8852 | THE BLACK TRACTION TRED SOLE IS BACK … IN JAPAN

do you remember the days when – i do not now the number of the boot – the #875 looking RWS with a black traction tred cushion crepe wedge sole were for sale @ RED WING SHOE STORE FRANKFURT? oh damn, this is really a long time ago. OLLI THE BARBER owns one of these – always nice to see. it is a great color combination the brown leather with this fat black sole. RED WING JAPAN does now a blue – so f***ing awesome – and a brown boot with this nice black sole: the #8853 & #8852. aren’t they nice? the blue leather of the #8853 is called “INDIGO PORTAGE” and the brown one “VELVA RETAIN” like used to the BROGUE RANGER #8128. i think these will not come to europe because the average european RED WING consumer mostly prefers the white traction tred sole or a boot from the IRON RANGER range. a MOC TOE with a black is too exotic. we will see. the #8128 is on the top of my sales list! pics | © THREEWOOD, japan
