RED WING SHOES NEWS | LAUNCH OF WORK CHUKKA #3148 IN BLACK CHROME LEATHER

Hi guys, RWS news will not end this autumn. Today the WORK CHUKKA #3148 was launched. In 2010 The Red Wing Shoe Company developed the WORK CHUKKA in black just for the Japanese market. The BLACK CHROME leather of the #3148 is also used on this really tough and rugged Red Wing Engineer #2268. The weight of the leather is HHH, what means that it is about 2.2-2.4 mm thick. This the thickest leather Red Wing Heritage uses for their boots. The #3148 is the 5th WORK CHUKKA style.

Something about the history of the WORK CHUKKAS RWS tells us: “Unlike other Red Wing boots, the chukka was designed for lighter, indoor work that includes bending, climbing and kneeling. Their crepe outsoles allowed these indoor workers to stay comfortable, while not scratching floors or making a mess. From the late 1950s and ‘60s, American fashion style became more rough and casual. actual work denim work wear became one of the fashion trends. The casual trend was also had an effect on the work wear and boots. Ankle height work boots and Chukka work boots where developed and introduced to follow this casual trend. At same time The Red Wing Shoe Compagny started to use the cushion crepe wedge sole for several work boots styles. The functional and novel outsole was incorporated in the Chukka that  was a new work boot at the time. The root of current chukka style #850 was also launched around the same time in 1954. The work chukka was worn mainly in lighter work or in the weekends for leisure and light outdoor activitys.”

The black #3148 and all the other CHUKKA styles are available @ RED WING SHOE STORE FRANKFURT online or in-store. pics | Red Wing Heritage

RED WING SHOES #9197 6 INCH POSTMAN

Seems to be a RED WING SHOES week on Life Time Gear. It’s about missing time to do this post much earlier. Some weeks ago I took this beauty with me from volls.de to the LTG Central – an absolute Must-Have for me. I think for a lot of other so-called RWS fans not, because of its pure, so classic and unusual “not so contemporary fashion compatible” look. And I think to recognize that this Postman wasn’t bespoken so often when it was launched … whatever I love it, but the boot distresses me so much. It’s the same as it was with the “normal” low #101 POSTMAN when I wore it the first miles. The #9197 is modeled after that famous #101 style. But when you broke the boot it will be a companion for life … Life Team Gear! Indestructible with its Black Chaparral leather, the black cushion crepe and wedge outsole. And again: this is a RWS Model that will be just available for a limited time – good to know! The #9197 is available @ volls.de – not online right now, because there will be a relaunch of the shop for the upcoming winter season soon, send Klaus an email – or @ the Red Wing Stores around the world f.ex. RED WING #8882 INDIGO PORTAGE LEATHER & RWS FRANKFURT ONLINE SHOP RELAUNCHED

@ first some really great news for all RWS aficionados: The Online Store of Red Wing Shoe Store Frankfurt, Germany, has reopened after a complete relaunch: www.redwingfrankfurt.com! And I love this clean graphic style so much. I do not want to see the 877th rugged or vintage look-a-like page. Complements. Kami you did a perfect job with your team! So we did a test shopping some days before the shop went online … the result was the brand new limited RED WING #8882 – a perfect online order: Ordered in the morning and the next day the boot arrived. The online order process itself is very simple, fast and smooth … it works!

Constant readers of LTG Blog know that I like blue RWS a lot. Two years ago I got the indigo colored classic work #8100 Oxford from Japan and I still love it. The #8882 is the same shoe just 6″ high like the classic #875, moc toed, made of Indigo Portage Leather and completed by the Traction Tred Cushion Crepe Wedge. Very nice is the brown ending of the bootleg – a small detail, but I love the contrast between the rich blue and brown leather. Another nice feature: you don’t get only the standard Red Wing Shoe Laces but a second pair made of leather. The leather laces look very nice but for me these are not so practical. Okay guys … these blue beauties are limited – order your #8882 @ Red Wing Shoe Store Frankfurt online right now. pics | LTG

BOOT OF THE DAY | #192 | ALDEN DARK BROWN COUNTRY CALF GRAIN INDY BOOT @ FRANS BOONE

What a wonderful boot! When I had to compose a boot for my own it could have the same look as this ALDEN available @ FRANS BOONE did with. From the bootleg to the sole – just perfect. Love the chocolate structured grain calf leather combined with one of my most beloved soles: the ALDEN crepe sole with a leather tip. Combine this great look: the brass eyelets and hooks. Awesome. pics | @FRANS BOONE

RED WING SHOES #8853 & #8852 | THE BLACK TRACTION TRED SOLE IS BACK … IN JAPAN

do you remember the days when – i do not now the number of the boot – the #875 looking RWS with a black traction tred cushion crepe wedge sole were for sale @ RED WING SHOE STORE FRANKFURT? oh damn, this is really a long time ago. OLLI THE BARBER owns one of these – always nice to see. it is a great color combination the brown leather with this fat black sole. RED WING JAPAN does now a blue – so f***ing awesome – and a brown boot with this nice black sole: the #8853 & #8852. aren’t they nice? the blue leather of the #8853 is called “INDIGO PORTAGE” and the brown one “VELVA RETAIN” like used to the BROGUE RANGER #8128. i think these will not come to europe because the average european RED WING consumer mostly prefers the white traction tred sole or a boot from the IRON RANGER range. a MOC TOE with a black is too exotic. we will see. the #8128 is on the top of my sales list! pics | © THREEWOOD, japan

BOOT OF THE DAY | #184 | ALDEN x FRANS BOONE SADDLE SHOE TOBACCO CHAMOIS SNUFF SUEDE

so, definitely: this is the nicest, coolest and at the same time smartest saddle shoe i ever saw. respect to FRANS BOONE who did this awesome piece together with ALDEN. i think this style, this combination in design and leathers must be really exclusive – at least i never saw before. this ALDEN shoe features the following characteristics: snuff suede saddle and heel part, vamp and quarters in reversed tobacco chamois, brass eyelets, cordo hyde flat laces, plantation crepe outsole, barrie last D width. it would be an amazing, awesome part of my boot & shoe collection, but the price is the price an ALDEN costs. so my rationality is fighting against the passion. it’s an exciting match! wonderful pics | © FRANS BOONE
