DOUK-DOUK CHROMATIQUE | CLASSIC FRENCH-MADE POCKET KNIFE IN PURE RED

got this wonderful red colored DOUK-DOUK from volls.de – KLAUS sells PASSION FRANCE now. and for sure i did not know since yesterday that this french classic knife is available in a wonderful rich enamel red – a must-have-item. and the best i got it as a present from KLAUS … thx buddy! formerly the DOUK-DOUK was designed to be sold in french colonies. the engraving on the handle of this knives depict a “DOUK-DOUK”, a native mythological character. my red DOUK-DOUK shows “THE SORCIER” (the sorcerer). the knife is still made from stainless steel in france, its blade is a “turkish clip” contour and its handle is folded steel-metal. it has very slim proportions so that you can put in any pocket. beside, DOUK-DOUK is the preferred knife of the FRENCH FOREIGN LEGION. for much more information please check douk-douk.com . my DOUK-DOUK is kept by a OBBI GOOD LABEL MTC wallet chain – love this. its great when you can put a knife to your pant this way. the red DOUK-DOUK CHROMATIQUE is delivered in a red soft leather slip case so that you could put it to your belt. a steel honing rod is included too.  … pics | LTG

RAW DENIM, BEER, BOOTS, BIKES, GIN, TALKIN’, MEETING FRIENDS @ 5TH MAENNERABEND AT BREMERCIH JEANS, ILLINGEN, GER

as last year it was again a fantastic event in the out of nowhere in SAARLAND, germany, near the previous french border. great, what the BREMERICH FAMILY particularly OLI BREMERICH and his team from the shop arrange and organize for MAENNERABEND every year. the guys in and around this small town ILLINGEN can be lucky! also, here out in the country the people are so cool, so kind and so honest – a great atmosphere! when i sometimes join events in big towns the folks are often so bigheaded and such a kind of fake. so what, this was a wonderful night, which was much too short … time was running so fast. a big thank you again to KATJA & OLI BREMERICH for best hospitably. for me it is something like coming home when visiting OLI & KATJA. i did a lot of pics so i will post a second part later. pics // LTG

A BAND NAMED “THE JOHNZ” | POWER ROCKAMETALROLLCORE BY OLLI THE BARBER, LAZI, KONRAD & TOM

this week i joined the rehearse of a new band with the working title THE JONHZ. my buddy and barber OLLI THE BARBER is the double bass player of this damn f**ing great rockin’ band. they just did a few rehearsals but it was so powerful and cool – really impressing. TOM (guitar), KONRAD (drums), LAZI (vocals & rhythm guitar) and OLLI will rock the clubs next time  – for sure. they do a kind of let me say rockabilly mixed up with a lot of other elements from hardcore, metal and pure rock’n’roll – it rocks at all. LAZI is a great singer and seems to be the perfect frontman. i am really excited to see their first gig. funny, from 2003 to 2005 i played the drums in the same room with the band called “ARMSTRONG” where OLLI THE BARBER was the singer. long time ago … thx CHRISTIAN GRAU for the great pics! pics // Christian Grau

5TH MAENNERABEND @ BREMERICH JEANS, ILLINGEN, GERMANY

today i got a parcel from OLI BREMERICH owner of BREMERICH JEANS, ILLINGEN, GERMANY. wonderful, because it’s “MAENNERABEND” time again and OLI wants me to get stimulated for tomorrow evening. so he send me 2 bottles of FERDINANDS DRY GIN and the official invitation, i made for him. great idea. while writing this post i try the SAAR QUINCE GIN i did not know before – just on the rocks, without tonic or water. sounds great for me as a RIESLING lover, because this “SLOE GIN” is “riesling wine infused”. f***, what a great taste. this golden stuff is at the same time so smooth and tasty. and FERDINAND’S  DRY GIN – one of my absolute GIN favorites –, which is made of 30 fine botanicals from the local vineyards is so perfect done too. okay, enough compliments: take your own bottle of FERDINANDS and enjoy it – for more information and shopping, check www.saar-gin.de. you may ask why OLI send this stuff to me? not just to prepare for tomorrow eveining, but the owner of FERDINAND’S will do a gin tasting at  “MAENNERABEND”. furthermore UWE E. HAND-DYED NATURAL INDIGO BANDANAS by ATELIER FUER BLAUDRUCK

some months ago i went to a nice artisan market in ASCHAFFENBURG, germany. there i found these wonderful triangle bandanas at a small and unremarkable stall. HOLGER STARCKEN is a so called BLAUDRUCKMEISTER and does all his wonderful stuff by hand. BLAUDRUCK (blue printing) has a more than 400 years old tradition in germany and is continued by the STARCKEN ATELIER which is located near BERLIN, germany. this BLAUDRUCK method can compared to batik dyeing. HOLGER STARCKEN is so cool, so unagitated. he does not need all this heritage and vintage odds and ends at his stall; his products speak for their selves – great!  i will visit STARCKEN again at 08th to 09th of november in  OFFENBACH at “Sammelsurium”. the site of the BLAUMACHER AUS BERLIN isn’t so nice and informative … but take a peek to learn more about BLAU MACHEN. pics | LTG

BROKEN HEART GIN | DRY GIN STRAIGHT FROM NEE ZEALAND MADE BY GERMANS

at first, as a great gin lover and graphic designer seeing this bottle, it was a must-have-item for me. the  bottle has one of the nicest designs i ever saw: so reduced, so cool, so to the point “BROKEN HEART”. great idea to double the 2 parts of one broken heart and put it on different places at the bottle. so you can watch nice mirrored and transparent effects – i love this. about the GIN: well, from new zealand – okay … interesting. i did not tried it yet, but it is described as a “pure, elegant and aromatic product with a really fine style, mild to the palate, compact and well-balanced but straight”. this was mentioned by an austrian sommelier where BROKEN HEART GIN was just rated – sounds good. it is made on a base of juniper with 11 different herbs mostly of the maker’s own organic plants and fresh spring water … “with a twist of orange”. BROKEN HEART GIN is an 100% natural product without any sugar, synthetic flavors and ingredients. check the BROKEN HEART website to read something about its interesting story: 2 germans created this GIN in NEW ZEALAND – sounds a bit crazy. pics | LTG

some more pics from my visit 2 days ago @ VOLLS. beside the new SPIEWAK stuff i showed you yesterday @ LTG i took some pics of the some new IRON HEART stuff for the upcoming winter season. but there is much more classic IRON HEART stuff in the shop than i shot, but i love these colorful 12oz ultra heavy flannel western shirts so much. SPIEWAK GOLDEN FLEECE @ VOLLS.DE

when i went to the post office yesterday i did a short turn to VOLLS, checking some new stuff KLAUS got the last days. i was really excited about the new SPIEWAK GOLDEN FLEECE jackets. especially the WAXED DECK JACKETS i like a lot. these DECK JACKETS were some of the most favorite jackets for the US FORCES in the 1940s. SPIEWAK was the official manufacturer of the us navy and air force and so the first maker of the nowadays famous and classic deck jackets. they are available in classic olive and navy blue with a shearling collar. both are made of waxed cotton. the camouflage jacket is an absolute damn f***ing must-have item. it is really special but so nice. i am sorry that i don’t have any more informations about it – i was flashed that i forgot to ask KLAUS about some facts. check volls.de, i think the jacket will be soon online in KLAUS’ shop – the deck jackets are online right now. the down filled AVIATION SNORKEL PARKAS are a contemporary interpretation of the famous and classic N3-B PARKAs from the 1950s. these are nice too but mainly useful with their TEFLON coated, wind and water resistant outer fabrics and a lot of other practically features and details. BUTTS AND SHOULDERS x BEERZE BEER COLLABORATION | LIMITED LEATHER APRON AND BEER BOTTLE OPENER

yesterday i got some news from my dear friend WOUTERS aka MR LONG JOHN and co-founder and owner of BUTTS AND SHOULDERS. they did a collaboration with netherlands beer brand BEERZE BEER. the result is a great looking leather apron ands a beer bottle opener –great idea. for sure both products are made by hand of true craftsmen. the apron is made of natural vegetable tanned leather and i promise you, it will age wonderful in use. each of these is numbered. i think the stuff will be available at the BUTTS AND SHOULDER site, when it was launched at friday 24th of october during the the DUTCH DESIGN WEEK in eindhoven, netherlands. they will organize a special event for this at Bergstraat 14a – CHEERS! pics | Butts and Shoulders
