LAGUIOLE & THIERS KNIVES by PassionFrance®

2 new knives join my knife collection. Again 2 knives from my friends @ PassionFrance®. I am not a big fan of LAGUIOLE knives but when I saw this piece made with an INOX handle I knew it was a must-have. I like the cold and square-edged grip of this cool and clean knife a lot. Take a look at the smart ornaments, clear lines. It is about 11cm long when it is closed with a welded bee. The Sandwik blade is rust free. For more information please check the PassionFrance® site – there is too much to say about LAGUIOLE … The second knife i had to have is this wonderful THIERS liner-lock with a handle made of buckhorn. The absolute opposite to the INOX handle: a nature textured grip – organic. The THIERS is very clean done too: pure clear lines, no needles bric-a-brac, and easy to handle. I love it! JUST SOME X-MAS PRESENT IDEAS | #03 LAGUIOLE PRESTIGE BY PASSIONFRANCE

I got this little companion months ago and I think this is a really nice daily knife to carry with you. Not to big, nice to touch and not so expensive – perfect for your personal wish list or as a present for some one who appreciates this beautiful LAGUIOLE by PASSIONFRANCE. I am proud of my little knife collection from PASSIONFRANCE but I must tell you that this small LAGUIOLE is the knife I mostly take with me since I got it. It has a welded bee, the blade is a 12C27 and the handle bar is made of bone. I love the details like the “croix berger” called Hirtenkreuz in German and the simple graphic “Ressort” on the back behind the bee. The open knife is 17 cm long; folded just 9 cm. POCKETKNIFE WITH PANCAKE HOLSTER by ONDURA DURABLE GOODS

I own a lot of knives but not such a nice combination: The ONDURA pocketknife with its so well done pancake holster – an absolute must have for men loving knives, collecting knives … The knife is a simple classic German pocketknife, which was developed and produced by famous OTTER-Messer Company in Solingen/Germany. For ONDURA it was really important to get a knife which is made complete traditionally here in Germany. The blade length is 100 mm and made of carbon steel. For safety reasons it is fitted with a backlock. The handles are so nice to touch – in German we call this a “Handschmeichler” –, these are made from olive wood with a nice texture. The brass ONDURA bear in the inlay is not just nice to watch: the bear on the knife and the bear on the holster must be covered by each other – there is only one way to put the knife into the holster: bear over bear. This works perfect! The “pancake” holster is made of two 4mm thick vegetal tanned leather layers  It is clued, sewed and riveted, mould and decorated with the ONDURA bear branding. The edges are brushed and polished. ONDURA offers also the perfect belt for the holster, the Workman Belt in tan. But I think it fits my vintage DUKES belt as good … Now the holster must age in daily use … exciting about the look it will get. iPhone LEATHER SLEEVE by ALEXANDER VON BRONWSKI MANUFAKTUR

Guys it’s a while ago that I got my leather iPhone 5 sleeve handmade by leather artisan ALEXANDER VON BRONEWSKI, but the last weeks i had too much work and there is just less time to do LIFE TIME GEAR. But here are the photos of this great work from my buddy Alex v.B.. Now my “i-Phone-Pad-Collection” is completed. It is about 8 weeks ago I made these photos and the sleeve got meanwhile some nice patina and a smooth grip in daily use. Great! Like the iPad sleeve this one is also made of made of tan, cognac colored cowhide from the south of germany and sewn with waxed twine made of linen. Love it! pics | LTG

yesterday i got my new iPad Air2 SLEEVE handmade by my budy ALEX c/o be-cause blog and owner & founder of ALEXANDER VON BRONEWSKI MANUFAKTUR. what a wonderful piece of craftmanship. the touch is so great, so natural smooth and the fit for the iPad is perfect. The sleeve is made of tan, cognac colored cowhide from the south of germany and sewn with waxed twine made of linen. so, now it’s time to rug’n’roll for the sleeve … thx, ALEX! pics | LTG

JACK/KNIFE | REVERSIBLE JACKETS PART II: MELTON WOOL & DEADSTOCK JAPANESE SELVEDGE DENIM

sorry for delay! it doesn’t took one day to show the other great reversible JACK/KNIFE jacket but a week. too much work, a f***ing cold … but here it is: the second J/K jacket made of 12oz. linen japanese selvedge denim and 13oz melton navy wool. i loved the touch of this piece when i had it at my office for taking the photos – just great. the buttons are so nice: hand carved and dyed for 3 times in indigo for a rich deep blue that will patina over time to reveal the natural ash wood look. the construction is 100 % the same as the J/K tweed jacket: a real reversible jacket that features vereything for both ways of carrying. no more words about the strictly limitation – you know this …

he guys, hope you have had a good start into 2015! showing this wonderful JACK/KNIFE jacket is a great start for LIFE TIME GEAR blog into this new year. there are 2 different models. i will start with the “COTTON TWILL & INDIGO TWEED” reversible version. as all J/K products these jackets are highly limited. i even don’t know if they are sold completely right now. the reversible COTTON TWILL & INDIGO TWEED jacket is made of hemp and wool blend indigo speckled tweed, woven in England, and 10oz khaki twill woven in USA. the authentic natural wood buttons are hand carved. about the construction: both sides have an everlasting 3 pocket design, single needle detail work on pockets include tack reinforcement, high stitch count and 100% lockstitch construction throughout. for sure the jackets are designed, patterned, cut and sewn at the JACK/KNIFE studio in california, usa. tomorrow i will show you the “DENIM & WOOL” reversible jacket. the jackets are exclusively available at the following stores – no online sales:

THE IRON HEART HAIRLINE DUCK WESTERN SHIRT & THE HICKORY STRIPE WORK SHIRT

i just own 3 IRON HEART shirts and i love these so much. after some stiffness when wearing the 11 and 12oz shirts the first times, they got smoother and smoother and meanwhile i am so satisfied of best fit and a great comfort feeling. and i think, that these will never be broken down – life time gear – what a great quality. the care isn’t a problem: cold wash, inside out and taking at once out of the wash machine when ready you don’t even need to iron it. no shrinking, nothing. these shirts are made in japan and have a lot of nice details you can check up in the photos. in fall i wore the shirts as a jacket, sometimes combined with a vest depending on the weather conditions. here i combined the shirts with deadstock indigo duck canvas JACK/KNIFE hunting vest and a JOE McCOy bandana. the shirts and the bandana are available @ volls.de and the vest is from B-74, frankfurt, germany. pics | LTG

DOUK-DOUK CHROMATIQUE | CLASSIC FRENCH-MADE POCKET KNIFE IN PURE RED

got this wonderful red colored DOUK-DOUK from volls.de – KLAUS sells PASSION FRANCE now. and for sure i did not know since yesterday that this french classic knife is available in a wonderful rich enamel red – a must-have-item. and the best i got it as a present from KLAUS … thx buddy! formerly the DOUK-DOUK was designed to be sold in french colonies. the engraving on the handle of this knives depict a “DOUK-DOUK”, a native mythological character. my red DOUK-DOUK shows “THE SORCIER” (the sorcerer). the knife is still made from stainless steel in france, its blade is a “turkish clip” contour and its handle is folded steel-metal. it has very slim proportions so that you can put in any pocket. beside, DOUK-DOUK is the preferred knife of the FRENCH FOREIGN LEGION. for much more information please check douk-douk.com . my DOUK-DOUK is kept by a OBBI GOOD LABEL MTC wallet chain – love this. its great when you can put a knife to your pant this way. the red DOUK-DOUK CHROMATIQUE is delivered in a red soft leather slip case so that you could put it to your belt. a steel honing rod is included too.  … pics | LTG
