5TH MAENNERABEND @ BREMERICH JEANS, ILLINGEN, GERMANY

today i got a parcel from OLI BREMERICH owner of BREMERICH JEANS, ILLINGEN, GERMANY. wonderful, because it’s “MAENNERABEND” time again and OLI wants me to get stimulated for tomorrow evening. so he send me 2 bottles of FERDINANDS DRY GIN and the official invitation, i made for him. great idea. while writing this post i try the SAAR QUINCE GIN i did not know before – just on the rocks, without tonic or water. sounds great for me as a RIESLING lover, because this “SLOE GIN” is “riesling wine infused”. f***, what a great taste. this golden stuff is at the same time so smooth and tasty. and FERDINAND’S  DRY GIN – one of my absolute GIN favorites –, which is made of 30 fine botanicals from the local vineyards is so perfect done too. okay, enough compliments: take your own bottle of FERDINANDS and enjoy it – for more information and shopping, check www.saar-gin.de. you may ask why OLI send this stuff to me? not just to prepare for tomorrow eveining, but the owner of FERDINAND’S will do a gin tasting at  “MAENNERABEND”. furthermore UWE E. NEW YORK CITY BROOKLYN SOAP COMPANY | TURNING REGULAR DUDES INTO DAPPER GENTLEMEN.

i was really surprised when i got the package full of these utmost organic grooming products from the BROOKLYN SOAP COMPANY. rarely i got such a tasteful packed box and not to mention the look of the bottles – awesome! one of the best designs of grooming products i ever saw. and every bottle has its own handwritten paper which person from the company filled it up and a hand stamped date how long the product can be used – love this! this means something personal and human to me in this f***ing fast digital and cursory times. all products are “cooked home-style” with natural and organic ingredients. the statement “born in brooklyn – made in germany”, in HAMBURG, i do not understand really – couldn’t find any information about this. hm, anyway all products are developed and made in germany. the ingredients, even the bottles and the other hardware come from german manufactures. for more information please check their site. i got the bodywash, shampoo and beardwash – all products are since 3 days in use. the beard and the bodywash work perfect and the smell is really exciting fresh but at the same so smooth and cushy. with the shampoo i am a bit doubtful because i am using pomade, LAYRITE, a water soluble one, but i have to work it out hard. maybe i just have to take some more shampoo, hotter water … – i don’t know, i will test it. it is a pity that the pomade and the deodorant are sold out; curios to test these too. beside, in 2014 the company won the REDDOT AWARD – congrats! pics | LTG

KNIVES FROM HOHENMOORER MESSERMANUFAKTUR | LTG REPLACES COOKING TOOLS

STINGRAY PATTERNED BRONZE MONEY CLIP by FEINSCHMUCK

yesterday afternoon i got a letter from ALEXANDER VON BRONEWSKI c/o FEINSCHMUCK and master of the great BECAUSE.blog. i knew about the content of the letter … exciting: i got my new handmade MONEY CLIP with a patterned STINGRAY bronze surface: AWESOME. , about a year ago i got a hook with the same pattern and material for my PASSION FRANCE ANCHOR LONDON knife. now my bundle is complete. great work by the STROPPEs and ALEX. thank you so much. check the FEINSCHMUCK site they offer really great stuff and the the product range is growing constant.  pics // © life time gear

VINTAGE MILITARY BUTTON SHIRT by LEVI’S VINTAGE CLOTHING

this shirt is from the time when LVC invested much love and time in unique pieces. certainly made in usa! i found this shirt yesterday in a storage box while looking for an old western shirt. i think i bought it about 2002 for my wife and it was so f***ing expensive but special. when i interpret the numbers on the label print correctly the shirt was made in august 2001 (08/01). i remember where i bought it: at HECKMANN in DARMSTADT, GERMANY, who sold a lot of genius LVC stuff at this time. i think to remember some one told me that MADONNA wore this shirt on stage. anyway it is so well done and has so many details to check. wonderful un-countable pearly buttons, push buttons with engraved LS&CO S.F., perfect vintage color irregularities in faded blue, tan, grey and yellow, different sorts of seams in different colors … AWESOME. i think i should frame the shirt and hang it up in my office … beside, my wife never wore the shirt; she thought it was too showy, too crazy.  pics | LTG

GRANIT (engl. GRANITE) | BAVARIAN GIN

sorry, i found another new german GIN : “GRANIT”, made in bavaria, germany. when i saw the bottle design it was a must to get this GIN to try and to put it to my GIN collection. because of getting better photos the bottle is still closed, so i can’t tell you something about the taste. i still have another german gin from SAARLAND, germany, i did not tried and posted too. when i did this, i will do a gin tasting with just all the different german gins i own. i think my editor PETER Z. will help me to judge and comment the gins. GRANIT is a BIO GIN made of 28 different botanicals. classic gin ingredients like citrus, coriander, cardamon are combined with typical bavarian herbages and plants like melissa, german “BÄRWURZ” and gentian – the description sounds really interesting. after aging some months in stoned barrels the gin is filtered through granite stones with different granulations. the gin has BIO quality! every bottle is delivered with a real granite stone which you can use as an ice cube when you put into the refrigerator. great idea, perfect look. the bottlle design and feel is really awesome! it looks so heritage and masculine, bavarian, craftsmanship. when i found GRANIT @ the PENNINGER site i found BLUTWURZ BLACK EDITION with its distinctive design. i don’t know if i will like this dangerous looking drink ever … but this bottle is a must-have too. i will report after the first try. pics | LTG

THE GOLDEN TEXAS STAR RING

nice to have a wife who finds things that are not forgotten but somewhere stored in the house you can’t remember … so it happened with my beloved TEXAS UNIVERSITY RING i bought more than 10 years ago. i remember the day and the place where i got it as it was yesterday. i found this piece while walking through an antique market in frankfurt/main germany with my wife. i wasn’t searching for a college ring or something like this. but the ring was like a magnet. i went to a sales booth saw it in the display case, knewing i must have it. but after asking the seller for the price we went away. but i couldn’t get the ring out of my head. after we were back in darmstadt, i went to the bank to get the money i wanted to spend – less than the seller rather wanted.  so i drove back the 40 kilometers back to the antique market. i told the seller which price i would pay and he gave the ring to me. i love this extraordinary piece and i think it is a good combination with my, no, little LEVI’s ring, he get it when he will be 18 years old. pics | LTG
