BOOT OF THE DAY | #193 | POST WAR II LACE UP BOOTS

Something special today. Please excuse the “non-perfect” pics but I did not make these myself. My boot buddy from Facebook’s BootOC – Boot Owners Club – HOUTY send me this from his new unworn dead stock post World War II boots. Aren’t these wonderful? Best condition. He bought the boots in Amsterdam for – in German we  say: “Apfel und ein Ei” – …  an apple and an egg … what means very cheap.  Houty wrote me that the  boots are built as robust as the vintage German tank TIGER – and indeed, they look damn tight. The boots must be made in the early fifties; before this time German military boots had no laces: mybe you know the famous “Knobelbecher”. I think they are about 6″ high, have a massive profiled nailed VORWERK sole, leather insole, 6 eyelets and a metal shank at the toe. Houty put the laces of his vintage Red Wing’s Beckman to it. GROOMING STUFF FROM SOUL OBJECTS BERLIN … AS A PRESENT … UNBELIEVABLE

Hi guys, first blog post 2016. I am sorry, but work was so hard and busy the first days of the new year. After a complete working through weekend it was such a pleasure to get a big parcel from SOUL OBJECTS BERLIN as a present – yes, as a present – this monday. What a superb surprise! And the best is, that I will have fun for weeks with this stuff. I noticed that the soul family send a lot of new products I do not know by now – exciting. I will try everything hard and tell you about the stuff at Life Time Gear. I am really curios about the new pomades from The Iron Society, Brooklyn. I got them all – 3 different sorts … YES! Also the products from The Brighton Beard Company make me very curios. Isn’t the design of the tins, the soap and the bags nice? Isn’t that a great idea? So obvious, so easy to do, not to buy and so personal – but who does this nowadays? For me it is always a pleasure to open a letter and seeing that someone who is next to me write me some lines with his hands, with a pen, a pencil or a marker or something else. JUST SOME X-MAS PRESENT IDEAS | #09 TELLASON W10 LONG SLEEVE SINGLE POCKET SHIRT

Damn, aren’t these nice? This week Uwe E. Mair c/o AMTRAQ DISTRIBUTION gave me the new SINGLE POCKET LONG SLEEVE SHIRT by TELLASON in two different versions. The shirt is based on a dress shirt from the 1950s which TONY PATELLA, founder and co-owner of TELLASAON, got in his vintage collection. I love this authentic old-school look, with that big, masculine collar, one front pocket and the “heavy duty” finish. The dark navy one is made of an unwashed 7.5oz twill from japan. Take a look at the Corozo (ivory nut) buttons – so nice. The stripped shirt is made of a Cone Mills White Oak vintage reproduction 100% cotton fabric. Its look is smarter and the wear is it too … not so heavy duty. The fabric has a softer touch – very comfortable and a great look with its stripes. Same cut, but tow different wonderful shirts – both Made in San Francisco, California. For your last xmas buys check the TELLASON site. JUST SOME X-MAS PRESENT IDEAS | #07 LEATHER KEY HOLDER by EMMA OPITZ LEDERLINGE

A nice key holder is a must. I own a lot of keys to put in order: several keys for home, office … my beloved Orange Beast and the car of my wife. All keys get hold be a LEDERLING (engl. Leather thing) hand made by EMMA OPITZ. These nice helper are made completely by hand in a little manufacture in Berlin, Germany. Every piece of EMMA OPITZ is a one of a kind, always a bit different from the one done before. The owner of EMMA OPITZ, Marc Türkheim, learned the famous knot that holds all this LEDERLINGE together by his grandma – it is a nice story! You can get several types of key holder and other leather accessories. The big ones I own are called “Bismark“ and the small one is a special custom thing which was made for KAMI, owner of B74. He gave me this key holder as a present – damn, I like this so much! The 2 “Bismarks” I got from volls.de. It mus be one of my favs because of being a great POPEYE fan since a child and EBBETS FIELD FLANNELS are my most beloved caps – what a perfect collaboration! And so special, so limited. As all EBBETS Caps this one is for sure made in the USA. It is an authentic 1960’s ball cap reproduction built of 14oz indigo dyed denim, featuring a high quality embroidered POPEYE badge, a horse hair buckram crown, satin taping, a cotton sweatband and an adjustable leather strap. JUST SOME X-MAS PRESENT IDEAS | #05 GUNMETAL WHISTLE by FALLING WHISTLES – A CAMPAIGN FOR PEACE IN CONGO

Today another very nice present with a serious background. When I bought my whistle in 2010 – dman, time is running – I was really excited about the idea behind the project FALLING WHISTLES and I am still doing. I was so shocked reading about the story the first time … for sure I knew that there were child soldiers, but I did not know about this whistle thing …  So it is a must for me to show you these nice and well done pieces for peace and I hope so much that you take a moment to check the website of FALLING WHISTLES and read about their story and work – please do so! There are 4 different sorts and 2 sizes of whistles: Chrome, Gun Metal, Vintage Gold and Black. I am really proud to own a FW of the first generation. My gun metal whistle has number 046! I use a massive anchor chain by PATRIK MUFF that correspondents perfect to the gun metal whistle. All orders are shipped out from Sweden, so that European future whistler-blower can get their FW just in time before Christmas.
