B74 ORDERSHOW S/S 2017 | DAY #00 “READY TO RUMBLE”

The next days I will be @ the B74 ORDERSHOW in Frankfurt/Main, Germany, to stay in contact with good friends, meet people and check all this great new stuff from the labels which will be presented. Even today while the set-up was done I find some really nice and interesting stuff. The whole day it was really busy around B74. The empty and clean area got filled hour by hour – exciting. So Kami owner and founder of B74 told me: “We are ready to rumble!” I am happy to be part of this ORDERSHOW the next 4 days. pics | LTG

ALDEN x VOLLS INDY BOOT CUSTOMIZED BY SCHUHGOTT

Hi guys, long time no blog … I am sorry, but my real life needs me: toooooo much work, a lot of trouble the last weeks.  I hope it will get better now. Yesterday I wore these amazing customized ALDEN x VOLLS INDY BOOTS for the first time after customized by INGO KELLER who runs SCHUHGOTT in Cologne, Germany. And I must tell you, that these boots were much more comfortable to wear than before: great walking. I bought these ALDEN x VOLLS cooperation boot 2 years ago and I wore it just several times. I am not a friend of “just leather soles”. I know that a lot of you will say “Damn this boot looks quiet smarter with a pure leather sole”, but I didn’t like it. I wore too often work boots and heavy western boots. When I wear a boot or a shoe with a leather sole I have the feeling wearing ballet shoes, not to mention about the grip. INGO put classic DAINITE sole and heel under a double leather sole construction and I love the look now – and the comfortably. A really clean and perfect work for my now daily ALDEN. If you want to customize your boots or shoes just contact INGO. He is open minded to your wishes and a specialist for Red Wing Shoes resoling:

BOOT OF THE DAY | #193 | POST WAR II LACE UP BOOTS

Something special today. Please excuse the “non-perfect” pics but I did not make these myself. My boot buddy from Facebook’s BootOC – Boot Owners Club – HOUTY send me this from his new unworn dead stock post World War II boots. Aren’t these wonderful? Best condition. He bought the boots in Amsterdam for – in German we  say: “Apfel und ein Ei” – …  an apple and an egg … what means very cheap.  Houty wrote me that the  boots are built as robust as the vintage German tank TIGER – and indeed, they look damn tight. The boots must be made in the early fifties; before this time German military boots had no laces: mybe you know the famous “Knobelbecher”. I think they are about 6″ high, have a massive profiled nailed VORWERK sole, leather insole, 6 eyelets and a metal shank at the toe. Houty put the laces of his vintage Red Wing’s Beckman to it. Best look – great deal! If you have some questions concerning to the boots, please feel free to contact Houty. pics | HOUTY

SOCKS THAT DON’T SUCK | ANONYMOUS ISM

Guys, it’s getting winter here in middle Germany. No more Oxfords without socks. Time to sock up with socks that don’t suck. Beside my Red Wing Shoes socks and CHUPS I always wear in all my boots from Alden over Rocky Heritage Boots to White’s these four pairs of ANONYMOUS ISM are the first I’ll try. The Anchor Socks are not really made for extreme cold conditions but perfect for fall. The camouflage ones are really thick and warm – and so cozy! The unique socks of ANONYMOUS ISM are woven on looms from the 1970s in a Japanese manufacture. Made from natural materials and thick yarns the socks are produced in distinct colors and peerless patterns. By built of the looms and use of quality yarns the efficiency of the machinery is limited to less than 50 pairs of these thick and durable socks per day! Okay … whatever, I love the designs. Got my socks from volls.de. pics | LTG

THE RED WING SHOES “ORIGINAL BOOT” REPLICA FROM 1905 | THE 1ST RED WING BOOT EVER

By cleaning up my boot closet I found this black beauty. Damn, this boot is so nice but my wife didn’t wear it for a long time and will not wear it anymore. This is not her boot style – she prefers the RWS Moc Toes and Chelseas. I bought this rare piece from RED WING SHOES in 2005 at Red WING SHOES Frankfurt, Germany. The model number is #850. They produced just a very small and limited run of these for the 100th birthday of RWS, I think to remember. Now I must give it away because I need more space for other boots I got the last time for my collection. Tomorrow I will give the boot to KAMI, owner of Red Wing Store Frankfurt, and we will show it @ the B74 Vintage Sale on Saturday 14th. Maybe I will sell it or Kami will take it to his magic archive. We will see … I can’t calm down seeing this boot for the first time again after some years: what an awesome boot! And it is a really good and original Replica compared to the picture of the “ORIGINAL BOOT” from 1905. The original work boot first year featured leather, buckles and laces for a secure fit. The Replica has a Zipper inside because closing all these buckles needs a lot of energy and patience. photos | LTG || historical pictures | @Red Wing Heritage

LEVI’S HAND-STITCHED LEATHER BASEBALL | THE BEST “HANDSCHMEICHLER” EVER

Last Sunday I went to B74, Frankfurt/Main, Germany to visit my buddy Kami. B74 was open on Sunday because in Frankfurt there was the gigantic “25-Years-German-Wiedervereinings-Party” – most shops opened their doors and the city was crowded. This little LEVI’S LEATHER GOODS gimmick was lying at the desk and it looked so wonderful – just while lying there as it wanted to say: come and take me with you 😉 … but Kami: “Not for sale … even for buddies – no chance”. Okay, he just got 2 of these and the first owner of this pretty hand-stitched baseball was standing beside me. So proud of his daily companion. This piece of leather is really nice to touch and to handle, press and turn around in the hand … so f***ing relaxing. But this short story came to an happy end, because Kami gave it to me – he wants to check LEVI’S for a third one. Unfortunately I can’t give you further informations about the ball because you don’t find anything about in wwww – no chance – and I do not know anything about the history of baseballs and how they are made. When I got the ball out of the cotton bag I put some RED WING SHOES mink oil on it. The ball got an even better touch and a nicer color – I am excited about how my new „Handschmeichler“ will age … pics | LTG

RED WING POST #02 LAUNCH @ RED WING STORE FRANKFURT, GERMANY

Yesterday I joined the launch party of RED WING POST #02 @ RED WING STORE FRANKFURT “The Mother of all RWS Stores in Europe”. RED WING HERITAGE NEWS | THE FOREMAN CHUKKA – STYLES #9215 & 9216

Chukkas are not my cup of coffee, but the new RWS CHUKKAS #9215 and #9216 might be. Because RW put one of my absolut favorite soles these: the durable but lightweight neoprene cushion sole. The FOREMAN CHUKKAS are available in two leathers: dark rich brown BRIAR OIL SLICK and BLACK HARNESS. The look is timeless – a classic chukka. And for sure these boots are made in Red Wing, Minnesota, USA. I will check up these the next days at RWS Store FRANKFURT i think. photos | ©Red Wing Heritage

STETSON CORDELE FUR FELT HAT | SOLD BY STATEMENT – THE DENIM STORE

just saw a pic of the new munich denim store STATEMENT posted by founder & owner KAY KNIPSCHILD and i felt in love with this wonderful hat. two days later this great lookin’ STETSON was put to my hat collection @ the LIFE-TIME-GEAR office. the CORDELE is made from premium quality fur felt, fully lined in a gold-bronze STESON fabric and there is a leather sweat band on the inside. the nice grosgrain band around the hat crown carries a wonderful colored feather. the crown is about 10 cm high and the brim 6cm wide. i love the look of the hat so much because with the brim turned up this fedora is such a nice mix between a classic fedora and a western-look-a-like hat – just perfect.

the STATEMENT store is owned by “JOSH” aka CHRISTIAN HEISE and KAY. i think they did a great job, when i take a look at the pics of the new store opened just 3 weeks ago. their vision was to bring the DENIM & BOOTS SPIRIT to GLOCKENBACHVIERTEL in MUNICH, germany. the STATEMENT store is located just beside the RED WING STORE MUNICH – not the worst idea! beside a big range of raw denim JOSH & KAY present a selected range of WHITE’S BOOTS. the store is full of awesome unique stuff from american flea markets – check the pics below. JOSH & KAY love quality, not status symbols, they love the details – that’s their STATEMENT. pics | STATEMENT // LTG
