ICONIC TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 70 IS RE-RELEASED FOR ITS 30TH ANNIVERSARY

i remember the times in the 80s when SUVs, sorry, off-road vehicles where driven by hunter, construction manager, forest worker or expedition teams here in germany. and when i think at these days there comes one characteristic bold and edged big car to my mind: the TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 70. mostly seen in sand or dark green and blue colors. and you still see these models from the early 80s in the streets here in germany. whatever, TOYOTA JAPAN celebrates the 30 anniversary of this iconic model with a re-releasing for just the year 2014. it is powered by a 4.0L V6 engine, a part time 4WheelDrive and some other nice contemporary features for about $35.000. the only problem is to get this 2K TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 70 from japan to germany or anywhere else. pics & film | © TOYOTA

THE BEARD IS GONE | or MAN WITHOUT A FACE

damn, what a f***. i hate this senseless discussions about “to have a beard” or “to have not a beard” or “is a beard just fashion, a hipster thing or not”. F*** off, for those who speak and discuss about such a holy shit it is indeed fashion shit. best are men who ask their friends or girlfriend if they should grow a beard: shame on you, pussies! a beard should be a part of you, something you wear with proud, something you wear with total conviction. a beard is not a shirt or a sock you change everyday … it is something individual. look at the pics below from the new german men magazine “MANUAL”. again this shitty discussion. and take a look at the poor man with out his beard. all forms of beards and mustaches made him looking so individual. after a complete shaving he says himself: “I feel like a man without a face”. yes, sir you are so right, but ask your girl friend if you should let grow a beard again. great the statement at the end of the story of the magazine:“for future times: topless is the new cool”. maybe: for pussies and hipster … believe me, i wear my beard more than 25 years, sometimes shorter,  sometimes longer and in 24 years no one talked and wrote about beards so much as in the last 12 months – it is boring, it gets on my nervs, i hate it! pics | © MANUAL MAGINE #01

SCHINDELHAUER LUDWIG VIII BIKE x BULLIT CARGOBIKE

in 2011 i bought a BULLIT cargobike as my citybike. at the end of 2013 i sold it because of its handling when parking at home and my office. i had to carry this wonderful but so heavy weight bike – about 24 kilograms – over a small distance that caused a lot of trouble to my back. my back pains got heavier day by day and so i needed a less weight bike. my choice was a SCHINDELHAUER bike. damn, what a beauty! i still love this look and comfort every time i ride my LUDWIG VIII with its 8-speed system and uncomplicated and best working GATES CARBON DRIVE belt. maybe you’ll say that you can’t compare a cargobike with all its benefits to a bike with an retro sprint racing track bike frame geometry and for sure you are right. but my back pain got so much better and for carrying my purchases i now use a #2 Cruiser Combo – Canoe Pack with a basket made in USA by DULUTH PACK. and believe me, this combination works perfects! i chose LUDWIG VIII in alu pur. the frame is made of “alu, triple butted aero tubing, dropouts with slider-belt-tensioning-system and Schindelhauer belt-port, integrated seat post clamp, smooth welded.“ and i love the contrast of the retro look and the modern GATES CARBON DRIVE “Center Track, front 55 / rear 22 teeth”. so nice details: take a look at the pedals and the saddle, the grips … the weight is about 11,2 kg. other highlights and eye catcher are the back lights integrated into the seat post and the wooden fenders. these are not standards and for sure not cheap but really must-haves … i love my bike so much! pics | LTG

RED WING SHOES AT WORK | OXFORD RWS #8103 IN THE FIELD

yesterday i went to france to a small village named SCHEIBENHARD in the ALSAC region, just 5 miles behind the former german border line. i did art direction for one of my clients while having a photo shoot in the field with a lot of agriculture crafts to show the great range of tires and the use of these. damn, it was so hot and sticky. so it was a good decision to choose the RWS oxfords because of the traction, the comfort and the easy clean behind. sorry for these bad iphone pics from the shooting itself. but isn’t the FORD TRACTOR barn found not nice. it was built 1970 and got a new turbo machine last week. the sound is incredible. pics | LTG

T-SHIRTS BY BRACK CUSTOM GRAPHICS

damn, so much work here the last days. sorry for the blog post delay, but it’s even better: it’s more than 4 weeks ago i picked up these 2 great motive shirts made by BRACK CUSTOM GRAPHICS @ vollls.de. i didn’t have the time to take off the price tags. okay, i decided to do a blog post before i will remove the tags … so it happened this evening – finally. you must know, i’m not really a friend of motive shirts, but there are some exceptions like the one – for sure not all prints! – from f.ex. JOHNSON MOTORS, FAT BOY CLOTHING, CXXVI CLOTHING CO or THE REAL McCOYS. when i saw these special drag race retro shirts for the first time at a facebook post done by my buddy KLAUS VOLL, i knew i must get these as a huge us car and custom culture aficionado. the shirts are made by HARRY BRACK, a graphic designer „who grew up in the 1970s surrounded by Hanna Barbera, Hot Wheels and monsters. Influenced by artists such as Robert Williams, Jim Phillips, Jim Flora and others, his greatest inspiration today comes from the subculture, particularly the car and motorcycle clubs, garages and the racing festival he is organizing. He is specialized in illustration and silk screen printing. Since 1993 he’s creating custom designs for rock bands, clothing brands and for the hot rod and motorcycle culture. In 2009 he opened the Harry Damson Speed Shop in Berlin together with his buddy FRANK DAMSON as a hotspot for designers and enthusiasts of the classic car and motorcycle culture. HARRY DAMSON started as an outlet for his t-shirt brand BRACK KUSTOM GRAPHICS and fellow artists who create fine art, clothings and crafts.” the art work and the contents of this are really great. the blue shirt shows the famous 1965s MELROSE MISSILE, PLYMOUTH and the natural white one DON COOK’S DAMN YANKEE CUDA who was driven by PAT FOSTER. beside, the quality of the shirts is amazing … available @ volls.de, not online but just give KLAUS an email or a call. pics | LTG

VINTAGE MILITARY BUTTON SHIRT by LEVI’S VINTAGE CLOTHING

this shirt is from the time when LVC invested much love and time in unique pieces. certainly made in usa! i found this shirt yesterday in a storage box while looking for an old western shirt. i think i bought it about 2002 for my wife and it was so f***ing expensive but special. when i interpret the numbers on the label print correctly the shirt was made in august 2001 (08/01). i remember where i bought it: at HECKMANN in DARMSTADT, GERMANY, who sold a lot of genius LVC stuff at this time. i think to remember some one told me that MADONNA wore this shirt on stage. anyway it is so well done and has so many details to check. wonderful un-countable pearly buttons, push buttons with engraved LS&CO S.F., perfect vintage color irregularities in faded blue, tan, grey and yellow, different sorts of seams in different colors … AWESOME. i think i should frame the shirt and hang it up in my office … beside, my wife never wore the shirt; she thought it was too showy, too crazy.  pics | LTG

THE 7OZ. CLAMPDOWN COTTON LINEN SHIRT by TELLASON

what a nice lightweight 7oz. selvage work shirt made of 35% linen and 65% cotton from italy. for sure the shirt is cut and sewn in SAN FRANCISCO with all the features you know from TELLASON’s CLAMPDOWN shirt. check the nice details like the knife and pencil holders, the selvage seams and smart buttons. at the moment the shirt turns some rounds in washing machine. the indigo is brutal marking. just by touching the shirt for these pics i got dark blue fingertips. UWE E. MAIER c/o AMTRAQ who gave me this shirt told me to wash it before the first wearing in any case. again exiting how the result will look like. pics | TELLASON people shot, others LTG
