A STAR, A FINGERPRINT AND A BOOT NECKLACE | 100% LIFE TIME GEAR

This necklace I wear for years 24/7. Love this simple combination of a star, little LEVI’s fingerprint when he was 2 years young and a silver boot … boots, boots and boots – a great passion for decades. The star is really nice: made of a Cuban coin from 1983. I got this once from an artist market.  The star is cutting-out with a very fine and small sew – damn hand made to a hair. Great – I remember me watching a man doing this with such a patience and peace of mind. The finger print i got from my son xmas 2009 i think. And what’s about the boot? That’s a secret … Mostly i combine the necklace with my beloved POPEYE amulet by FEINSCHMUCK or an angel wing chain by PATRICK MUFF. pics | LTG

BLACK VEGETABLE LEATHER SUNGLASS CASE | by ONDURA – DURABLE GOODS

A few days ago I got an envelope addressed by ONDURA. ONDURA? I heard about but where? And while opening i got an idea: i know it from the BURG & SCHILD blog. Yes, ONDURA DURABLE GOODS is the Label behind German LEENS JAN ONDRA. He has an interesting story and I am really happy, that he send me this great sunglass case to check it … and for sure for me it is an honor to write something about it. The case from the “Black Bear”-Edition has a great touch, made of 3 mm high quality vegetable leather. It is hand sewn and the “nose” is made from European beech wood. Because I also wear optical glasses I know what a good glass case makes a good one: and this one is a perfect one. The functionality is impressing even when I put my fat framed glasses to it. It is always easy to close the case, nothing is to tight, to bulky. Next time I will order the another one – I think a tan one. And for sure everything is made by hand here in Germany. Sustainability is really important for LEENS. The leather he uses is from a small tannery just around the corner and all the other needed stuff is from the region he lives. His motto is “Local Goods – Think global buy local.” Authenticity and durability are a matter of course to the products he creates and produces. The product range is growing constant. BUTTS AND SHOULDERS | THE ROUGH COLLECTION – NEW BAG COLLECTION LAUNCHED

Some day ago I got some news from my buddy WOUTERS co-founder of BUTTS AND SHOULDERS and the man behind the great LONG JOHN blog. They launched their new collection named “THE ROUGH COLLECTION”. this collection “are variations on our beloved virgins”, they say, “The same bold Butts and Shoulders style and the same attention it deserves. Clean and classic with a lot of style!”. So the collection features the 3 classic BAS bags: Travel Bag, Worker Bag – my favorite – and the Post Bag. All models are now availabe in four new treated leather variations: brown (cognac),  dark brown,  dark Green (army) and striped blue/black leather. On every bag the brnading is sprayed by hand. And for sure these great bags will getting even nicer by using them everyday. As all BAS stuff these bags are made in Holland, Europe, in stricly limited quantities. JACK/KNIFE | REVERSIBLE JACKETS PART II: MELTON WOOL & DEADSTOCK JAPANESE SELVEDGE DENIM

sorry for delay! it doesn’t took one day to show the other great reversible JACK/KNIFE jacket but a week. too much work, a f***ing cold … but here it is: the second J/K jacket made of 12oz. linen japanese selvedge denim and 13oz melton navy wool. i loved the touch of this piece when i had it at my office for taking the photos – just great. the buttons are so nice: hand carved and dyed for 3 times in indigo for a rich deep blue that will patina over time to reveal the natural ash wood look. the construction is 100 % the same as the J/K tweed jacket: a real reversible jacket that features vereything for both ways of carrying. no more words about the strictly limitation – you know this …

JACK/KNIFE | REVERSIBLE JACKETS PART I: COTTON TWILL & INDIGO TWEED

he guys, hope you have had a good start into 2015! showing this wonderful JACK/KNIFE jacket is a great start for LIFE TIME GEAR blog into this new year. there are 2 different models. i will start with the “COTTON TWILL & INDIGO TWEED” reversible version. as all J/K products these jackets are highly limited. i even don’t know if they are sold completely right now. the reversible COTTON TWILL & INDIGO TWEED jacket is made of hemp and wool blend indigo speckled tweed, woven in England, and 10oz khaki twill woven in USA. the authentic natural wood buttons are hand carved. about the construction: both sides have an everlasting 3 pocket design, single needle detail work on pockets include tack reinforcement, high stitch count and 100% lockstitch construction throughout. for sure the jackets are designed, patterned, cut and sewn at the JACK/KNIFE studio in california, usa. tomorrow i will show you the “DENIM & WOOL” reversible jacket. the jackets are exclusively available at the following stores – no online sales:

THE LIFE TIME GEAR WALLET STRAP | MADE BY THE LAST DON

these are great moments: taking an envelope out of the postbox with an absolute unexpected surpise. THE LAST DON, one of my most estimated blogger buddies did a pre-x-mas present to me. i got the one and only LTG LEATHER WALLET STRAP hand made by THE LAST DON. great: what a nice look and what a smooth leather. when i hold it for the first in my hands i knew at once which of my wallets would fit best … take a look at the pics. if DON SCHWEDE knew this? … intuition? … whatever, DON made me happy. pics | LTG

THE IRON HEART HAIRLINE DUCK WESTERN SHIRT & THE HICKORY STRIPE WORK SHIRT

i just own 3 IRON HEART shirts and i love these so much. after some stiffness when wearing the 11 and 12oz shirts the first times, they got smoother and smoother and meanwhile i am so satisfied of best fit and a great comfort feeling. and i think, that these will never be broken down – life time gear – what a great quality. the care isn’t a problem: cold wash, inside out and taking at once out of the wash machine when ready you don’t even need to iron it. no shrinking, nothing. these shirts are made in japan and have a lot of nice details you can check up in the photos. in fall i wore the shirts as a jacket, sometimes combined with a vest depending on the weather conditions. here i combined the shirts with deadstock indigo duck canvas JACK/KNIFE hunting vest and a JOE McCOy bandana. the shirts and the bandana are available @ volls.de and the vest is from B-74, frankfurt, germany. pics | LTG

MASUNAGA | OPTICAL FRAMES MADE IN JAPAN SINCE 1905 @ KLAR

when i visited AKRAM founder and owner of KLAR in darmstadt, germany, last week he showed me these nice frames. AKRAM told me that he sells MASUNAGA since 2012 – hm, i did not know this … anyway, now i took notice of this wonderful classic frames which must be made with such a passion and precision – so nice to touch and put it on the nose. great. the look? perfect old school, timeless. MASUNAGA was founded in 1905 by GOZAEMON MASUNAGA in FUKUI, JAPAN where 97% of optical frames were once made. he wanted to produce glasses that are better than the rest of the country. he did: from this time on till today each piece of MASUNAGA eyewear is made by hand. the glasses are made with the finest materials including silver accents and polished japanese acetate.  MASUNAGA  glasses are well known for their details. i am still absolutely hooked by this wonderful simple, classic but modern look. check their website and the actual collections, the optical ones as well as the sunglasses and learn more infos about the brand. and for sure a MASUNAGA will be my next frame. pics | LTG

L.G.R. X KLAR COLLABORATION | 20 PIECES LIMITED SUNGLASSES EDITION

italian high-end eyewear and sunglasses manufacturer L.G.R. did a collaboration with KLAR, my favorite optician at my hometown DARMSTADT, germany. AKRAM, owner of KLAR, send me a short video teaser of the collab – really interesting! so i did some pics of this special sunglasses handmade in italy. L.G.R. and KLAR did a strictly 20 limited pieces model which has a special color combination just used for this collab. every piece has its own product number from 1 to 20, a special case and a cleaning cloth with a L.G.R. X KLAR print. the glass is made by BABERINI, polarized in grey/blue – one of the best real glasses you can get today. beside these sunglasses KLAR sells certainly other collections from L.G.R. f.ex. the wonderful and although limited SAFARI COLLECTION. pics | LTG
