RED WING SHOES | LAUNCH OF RED WING HERITAGE WOMEN’S COLLECTION ON 1ST of SEPTEMBER

This time there is something really new and special: RED WING SHOES launches its first contemporary women’s collection. They launched some true RWS, classics which we know from the men’s collections since years – this line is named “CORE”. You’ll find Moc Toes, Iron Ranger and Engineer boots with lasts especially done for  women’s feet – great idea, isn’t it? For me as an RWS aficionado this is the line that makes the most sense to me. But for sure the ”LEGACY” line is really interesting too because of the extremely feminine and heritage look. These look like the very boots worn by women shaping and defining the 20th century, optimized for utmost comfort, wear ability, and durability. The ”MODERN” line is not my cup of coffee, but I am sure that a lot of ladies will like this reinterpretations of RWS most classic designs for women.

Come on and bring your girl, wife, lady, your sister, your daughter or grandma on the 1st of September 2016 to RED WING SHOE STORE FRANKFURT to check up the new RED WING HERITAGE WOMEN BOOTS and get a feeling for the specific women properties. Check the fit and walk some steps through the store. For sure the boots are online available too, 24/7 from 1st September on!

RED WING SHOE COMPANY started making boots for women in the midst of the Roaring Twenties. These women were pioneers of their era, breaking free from the constraints of long skirts and corsets in favor of short hair, pants, and boots. Red Wing Shoe Company responded to these social changes by creating a collection of ladies’ boots that were specifically suited to the needs and activities of independent women of the time, using the same purpose-built craftsmanship and care found in their men’s shoes.

I just wanna show you a short overview of the new styles. The next days I will present you more detailed informations and pictures of the different styles and lines.

LEGACY
”At RED WING SHOES, we are incredibly proud of our 110-year history of making footwear of the finest quality and craftsmanship. The purpose of our Legacy Collection is to honor and build upon that history with progressive designs inspired by our boots of yesteryear.”

RED WING SHOES | NEW RELEASE: COOPER MOC #2954 & #2964

It seems to be a RED WING SHOES release week. Guys, the next new styles arrived at the stores: the COOPER, available in “AMBER HARNESS | #2954” and “BLACK HARNESS | #2964“. The classic design of the iconic RWS styles #875 and #877, which were popular in the past among sport and hunting enthusiasts, later construction workers, with that nowadays so beloved Cushion Crepe Sole, fueled the development of RED WING SHOES new COOPER collection. Okay – the COOPER – named for the woodworkers, who build barrels and casks. Compared to the #875 the COOPER shows two elementary differences: a smart profiled Vibram® 430 Mini-lug sole and speed hooks. I like the look of these new 6 inch Moc Toe boots a lot, especially the black #2964. Check these USA made boots @ Red Wing Store Frankfurt in store or 24/7 online. And for sure these boots can be resoled @ Red Wing Store Frankfurt! pics | Red Wing Heritage | blog.lostartpress.com

Here the story of THE MERCHANT: “Working as a merchant in Red Wing, Minnesota at the beginning of the 20th century, Charles Beckman experienced the need for durable and comfortable boots first-hand. In 1905, when he couldn’t find boots to meet his needs, he started his own shoe company: The Red Wing Shoe Company. More than a century later, Red Wing Shoes has now developed “the Merchant” as a tribute to Charles Beckman. The Merchant is based on traditional work boots from the 1920’s, when Red Wing started making boots without toe reinforcement to provide a more comfortable fit without stress points. In 1929 20 out of the 50 styles came without a toe-box. The “no toe-box” provides flexibility and comfort around the toe area. Style #245 from 1920 is the oldest and closest Red Wing work boot to the Merchant. Style #245 was called “black chief” and was made without a toe-box. The black chief came with a plain toe and was raw cut at the quarter edge.
The historical work boot most similar to the Merchant is style 245 from 1920, which was made without a toe-box, but instead featured a plain toe and raw cut at the quarter edge. The Merchant is built on the 8 last, which is also used for the Blacksmith. But because of the missing toe-box, the Merchant has a slimmer look and a lower toe profile than the Blacksmith.

The Pecos Boots: “Red Wing Shoe Company is perhaps best known for the work boots made for the farmers, miners, and sportsmen of the Upper Midwest but early on, we introduced another boot for a different group of workers in the American West. We had an office in Dallas, Texas as early as 1923 to serve the unique market of ranchers, cowboys and oil drilling roughnecks in the region. At the time, most of these workers wore pull-on riding boots, often with decorative stitching, and Red Wing responded with one of its own in the 1930s. By the 1950s, with typical Minnesota understatement, we did away with the decorative flourish and introduced a pull-on boot of our own devising.
This pull-on boot was given a new name, the Pecos, after a town in Texas and it evolved into one of our most popular styles. The renowned Red Wing durability worked as well on the ranches of the Southwest as they did the farms and fields of Minnesota. The appeal of the Pecos spread, thanks to its simple design, comfortable fit, and rugged good looks. Still made the same way with quality leathers in our factory in Red Wing, the Pecos is now seen on hardworking feet from coast to coast, both ends of the Mississippi, and everywhere in between. Call it a cowboy boot, with a Minnesota twist.”

The #8187 has a shaft ankle-length, is made of Hawthorne Muleskinner leather and got the iconic Red Wing Nitrile Cork Sole

RED WING SHOES | HERITAGE AT ITS BEST: ICONIC LINEMAN BOOTS STYLE #2996

In the early twentieth century electricity went to nearly all households across the United States. More and more workers, these so called “LINEMEN”, began to lay high voltage lines across the whole country. This was a very dangerous job and so safety gear was required to protect the workers, f.ex. special boots. In 1952 Red Wing Shoes produced their first Lineman style #606. Compare this one with the new #2996 – this is what heritage means! Characteristic for the LINEMAN boot is the lace-to-toe design which means, that the shoe laces go all the way to the toe part for more stable footing, for a tighter fit. Trying the boot on and lace it you will notice this. I like this compact fit. The #2996 features: Cigar Retan leather upper | Leather lining | Lace-to-toe with speed hooks at top | Gusseted tongue | Leather-covered foot bed | Goodyear welt construction | oil resistant signature nitrile cork sole. For sure these boots are made in the USA. The #2996 is exclusively sold @ RED WING STORES around Europe and in Japan. The history of the CAMARO started 1966, 2 years later than this mustang was introduced, but with the same concept: “long hood, short deck”. Since this there is a fight between this 2 cars for the domination of this so called “PONY CARS”. In 2017 the CAMARO celebrates its 50th birthday. BLAUMANN JEANSHOSEN | RAW JAPAN DENIM MADE IN GERMANY

Some days ago my buddy OLIVER BREMERICH c/o BREMERICH JEANS send me a box full of BLAUMANN Products to check these. The word BLAUMANN stands in Germany normally for an easy working overall – or just generally for pure and simple working clothes. At first I thought, okay, for sure another product jumping on this heritage train, just another raw denim jeans … but I was really surprised about this original well done and stand alone German product. The “Schmaler Blaumann”, which means Tapered Fit, is a perfect fitting piece made of 15oz Kuroki Denim woven on shuttle looms from Japan. So: the denim is made in Japan, but the cut and the production, the stitching of the pants is completely done in Germany. All materials except the denim cotton, the tags, buttons, yarns and the lining for the pockets are made in Germany. A great idea while a lot of fuckers nowadays send there stuff to somewhere to produce it with child hands and people earning money under minimum wages. The pants are available in 32 and 34 inch length but are about 11 cm longer because these shall be worn with a turn up. It would be shame not to show the wonderful selvage stitch. Okay the price is not the lowest, but for a raw denim more than acceptable compared to others. Check the pics for wonderful details the BLAUMANN men put to their product … I like this a lot! With the raw denim shirt named “SCHMALES BLAUMANN-HEMD”, which means slim fit shirt, is made of 8oz Kuroki denim and all the other materials are made in Germany too. It is manufactured in Oberpfalz, Germany like the pants. For more information about the products please check: www.blaumann-jeanshosen.de or call Oliver directly +49 177 4843400. He is a japan denim maniac and expert. pics | LTG

1ST PAT-RN VITTORIO VENETO BLU NAVALE JACKET

This 1ST PAT-RN jacket is for sure one of my most beloved pieces. It is manufactured in Veneto, Italy, from the iconic and exclusive “Cavalry di Maglia” fabric, the backbone of 1ST PAT-RN. They offer an alternative woven knitted fabric which keeps the shape due to a special jersey instead of a woven lining. I love the mix of the casual fabric and the timeless, classic cut with these wonderful copper buttons issued from Italian Navy supplier on the front and cuffs. – inspired by heritage workwear and military style. Some more facts: 100% Cotton | Hopsack Di Maglia Knitted Fabric | Naval Copper Buttons | Three Front Pockets | Two Internal Pockets | Working Button Cuff | Made in Italy. I know that you get the VITTORIO VENETO Jacket @ superdenim, cultizm, kafka, The Bureau Belfast, Franz und Emil und B74. pics | LTG

FATIGUE PANTS by TELLASON | BRAND NEW CLASSIC STUFF

Last week Uwe E. Maier c/o Amtraq Distribution send me this brand new classic Fatigue Pants made by TELLASON. Damn – these are really nice. So comfortable, loose fit but with contemporary tapered legs for a perfect fit and look. The design is classic – Fatigue Pant in 8.5 oz cotton sateen, based on the famous OG-107: “The OG-107 was the basic work utility uniform of all branches of the United States Armed Forces from 1952 until its discontinuation in 1989. The designation came from the U.S. Army’s coloring code “Olive Green 107” and “Olive Green 507”, which were shades of dark green, the OG-107 being cotton and OG-507 polyester-cotton blend introduced in the early 1970s. Regardless of the fabric, the two shades were almost identical. The OG-107 was superseded by the Battle Dress Uniform (BDU) throughout the 1980s, and was also used by several other countries, including ones that received military aid from the United States.” TELLASON offers this modern well done  “Replica” in khaki and traditional olive. The Fatigues are Made in Italy, are pre-washed and feature a zip fly, the typical buttoned back and large front pockets. I wore the pants for the first time when doing the pics … I still wear the olive one … love it: so comfortable, so good lookin’ … So: this is what I call Life Time Gear! The pants are exclusively available @ B74, Cultizm, UBS Classics, Riders Room, Gross4 Aces, Trekkingladen Regensburg, Bremerich Jeans, Denim & Iron and Lord. pics | LTG
