THE RED WING SHOES “ORIGINAL BOOT” REPLICA FROM 1905 | THE 1ST RED WING BOOT EVER

By cleaning up my boot closet I found this black beauty. Damn, this boot is so nice but my wife didn’t wear it for a long time and will not wear it anymore. This is not her boot style – she prefers the RWS Moc Toes and Chelseas. I bought this rare piece from RED WING SHOES in 2005 at Red WING SHOES Frankfurt, Germany. The model number is #850. They produced just a very small and limited run of these for the 100th birthday of RWS, I think to remember. Now I must give it away because I need more space for other boots I got the last time for my collection. Tomorrow I will give the boot to KAMI, owner of Red Wing Store Frankfurt, and we will show it @ the B74 Vintage Sale on Saturday 14th. Maybe I will sell it or Kami will take it to his magic archive. We will see … I can’t calm down seeing this boot for the first time again after some years: what an awesome boot! And it is a really good and original Replica compared to the picture of the “ORIGINAL BOOT” from 1905. The original work boot first year featured leather, buckles and laces for a secure fit. THE ROCKY ORIGINAL OBLIQUE-TOE HIKER by ROCKY HERITAGE BOOTS

It starts with checking Zace D. Myers Facebook profile seeing these wonderful boots the first time. Zace is the founder and owner of the denim brand ZACE USA. He introduced the return of this classic hiking boots – for sure – Made in USA. Seeing the boots more and more I had to take a more closely look and after speaking to my buddy Felix  I ordered a pair. And men, these are the most comfortable boots I ever wore and believe me, I have had a lot of different boots on my feet till today. Yesterday I went to a client shooting on location. 10 hours nonstop on my feet in the forest. Jumping around and doing art direction … nothing hurts, no tired feet. The boots are really tough but amazing light weighted. I am really excited about my 8″ Rockies. The boot is made of a full-grain leather using a Goodyear@ welt construction fitted with an oil and slip resisting Vibram® rubber outsole – the boot can be resoled for sure. Inside there is a Terra Suspension Footbed which is removable and tough enough to give a lot of comfort as I just can confirm because of yesterday. The footbed has an arch and heel designed for tremendous support and comfort. A double-ribbed, tempered steel shank provides additional arch support and foot stability. There are a lot of parts which are triple stitched! About the toe. “Oblique is a design term, referring to the shape of the boots, Oblique toe boots are designed to follow the shape of a foot and offer extra room for your big toe”. The boots are crafted in Wynne, Arkansas, and the Rocky Original Oblique-Toe Boots feature complete American Materials from the Vibram@ Sole which is made in Massachusetts, over the laces which come from Portsmouth, Ohio, to the leather. A true and honest product Made in USA. And take a look at the nice box and so special and great: the ZACE USA denim boot sacs. Damn, what a surprise when I opened the box. I love this boots. Constant readers of LTG Blog know that I like blue RWS a lot. Two years ago I got the indigo colored classic work #8100 Oxford from Japan and I still love it. The #8882 is the same shoe just 6″ high like the classic #875, moc toed, made of Indigo Portage Leather and completed by the Traction Tred Cushion Crepe Wedge. Very nice is the brown ending of the bootleg – a small detail, but I love the contrast between the rich blue and brown leather. Another nice feature: you don’t get only the standard Red Wing Shoe Laces but a second pair made of leather. The leather laces look very nice but for me these are not so practical. TSPTR x EBBETS FIELD FLANNELS CHARLIE CAP

As a constant reader of LIFE TIME GEAR blog you must know that I am a great fan of EBBETS FIELD FLANNELS caps. I own a lot of because I love this heritage, classic and authentic look. Beside, the fit is perfect. When I order a 7 1/4 it is a 7 1/4 – every cap has the same fit and believe me this isn’t the norm i f you compare to other labels. Some days ago I discovered the woolen CHARLIE BROWN baseball cap which is the result of a collaboration between 60s counterculture-inspired brand TSPTR – which stand for Truth, Symmetry, Pleasure, Taste, Recognition – and EBBETS FIELD FLANNELS. Certainly made in the USA of a grey melange wool with an adjustable leather tab and calf leather trim. “CHARLIE BROWN” is constructed with the same soft wool which is used for EBBETS’ vintage baseball uniforms – great, isn’t it? This is my first EBBETS which is not made to size and the fit is perfect too. I know it from the moment on I took it out of the parcel which came from CALIROOTS: this is a new Life Time Gear piece. pics | LTG

THE LANZA JACKET by 1ST PAT-RN | INTERNATIONAL TRAD MEET ITALIAN WORKWEAR

Last week I got a big parcel from UWE E MAIER c/o AMTRAQ DISTRIBUTION. What a surprise, he send me the 1ST PAT-RN LANZA JACKET. What an indigo beauty! I was, no I am restless excited about this 1960s Italian work wear inspired jacket. The LANZA is made in Italy of a double indigo selvedge denim. The fit is classical perfect without any needles “Schnick Schnack”, but so nice details like the selvedge seams inside and the horn buttons. It features one button flap chest pocket, 2 lower inset pockets, adjustable cuffs, rounded collar with a detachable throat tab, rear cinch and selvedge detail on the inside placket. It was delivered unwashed –  so the photos I did show the Jacket unwashed. While i am writing this lines LANZA gets its first reversed side wash – cold and light. Because of its nice indigo dying it colors slightly even when I did the photos.The jaakcet is available @ VMC, LowDownondenim, Zenit, JeansLife and The Bureau Belfast, where I got the 2 pics which show the washed LANZA – THX! I am really impressed by this great 1ST PAT-RN stuff – love this stuff expecting some more pieces next time. Christian Berto does a great job.

SHORT VISIT @ GENTLEMAN’S SKATESHOP, ASCHAFFENBURG, GERMANY

Yesterday I did an absolute spontaneous visit at GENTLEMAN’S SKATESHOP in Aschaffenburg, Germany. This little nice and cozy town is just 50 km away from the Life Time Gear Central. DIRK SCHÜTT owner and founder of this so nice shop kept some JOHNNY CASH socks for me. And because of a lazy Saturday morning I put little LEVI into the orange beast and we flew over to DIRK. And for sure we will see again soon. What a great guy and what an easy atmosphere in the shop … just good vibes. And it is a nice concept to combine some heritage stuff with some fresh and classic skateboard stuff – this works. DIRK see ya! pics LTG

BUTTS AND SHOULDERS NEW GOODYEAR WELTED BOOTS

Today, back to the boots. My buddy WOUTER c/o BUTTS AND SHOULDERS and LONG JOHN blog send me some pics of the new B&S boot which had its premier @ the MODEFABRIEK FAIR AMSTERDAM a few days ago. Very nice.This classic boot is made in Portugal from a natural vegetable tanned leather and it is fitted with a GOODYEAR welted construction. Look at the pics – the leather is aging so wonderful. RED WING POST #02 LAUNCH @ RED WING STORE FRANKFURT, GERMANY

Yesterday I joined the launch party of RED WING POST #02 @ RED WING STORE FRANKFURT “The Mother of all RWS Stores in Europe”. It was a really nice event with a lot of friends, some new faces and what a luck best cooled drinks, because yesterday in Frankfurt the thermometer showed again more than 30°C. It was so hot!
